In my mid-fifties, I thought it was time to do something to maintain my natural look. I was very reticent about having anyone touch my face, and if I decided to go ahead, I wanted only the best hand. I’m so glad I decided to choose Dr. Chiu-Collins. I went in for a consultation. She spent an hour with me go over my options. She completely understood my interest in looking natural and negated procedures she thought would make me look ‘done.’ After a year of contemplation (yes, I was nervous), I went back for Botox. Dr Chiu-Collins suggested I have filler at the temples to pull up my skin to eliminate heavy crows feet and light Botox at the brow. She clearly explained to me bone structure and how these procedures sit within the sub-surface of the skin. I jumped in and said, okay, go for it. Am I glad I did. The results were immediate and extremely natural. No one would overtly know I’d had anything done, but friends thought I looked great, or had a new hairstyle (same ponytail!). My crows feet diminished and my lids lifted ever so slightly. I will definitely maintain these procedures and thank Dr. Chiu-Collins for her deft touch and patient explanations.
I’ve always had a square face and short chin. It’s been really bothering me lately and I decided for the new year I change what I don’t like. I went to Dr. Chiu-Collins since her work is amazing and close by. I got a consultation and got the procedures done in the same day. Consultation was $200 but applies towards treatments. Dr. Chiu-Collins is very warm and friendly, also knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. I had questions about these treatments and she answered them with finesse. The only thing is that these treatments are pretty pricey so hopefully the results will be worth it. She made me feel really comfortable with getting them done and her opinion on how much and how to do it. Chin filler shots are so weird, injecting them is a little crunchy since she goes down to the bone. Doesn’t hurt too much. Botox shots are a little sharper but super easy. She recommended 2 syringes of restylane and 30 units Botox for each side. I also like how Dr. Chiu-Collins believes in the more natural look. I really like my chin filler, I can see the difference already. I did get bruised on one side, partly because I took a painkiller the day before so it did thin out my blood. Gonna have to cover with makeup lol. Botox takes 2-10 weeks to take effect so I’ll update when I see changes!
I have been going to Dr. Lynn Chiu-Collins for a little over four years for Botox treatments, and am so grateful to have found her and her practice. My goal is to stay youthful but natural looking, and Dr. Chiu-Collins has helped me find the right balance to age (just a little) gracefully. I trust her implicitly to help me make good decisions about how to care for my skin and face. She takes great care to explain her approach and talk with me about my options. I can't imagine trusting my face with anyone else.
I would like to enthusiastically endorse Dr. Chui-Collins. Not only does she have a lovely bedside manner, she has a brilliant eye and is a thoughtful, skillful, and talented surgeon. She prides herself in being an expert with facial anatomy as a certified and trained facial plastic surgeon, and the result is beautiful and natural-looking. She is from the Bay Area and understands the cosmetic aesthetic of Northern California. She will not try to give you the Housewives of Orange County look. In fact, she will listen to your concerns and may gently suggest different paths to reaching your goals. She will steer you away from the clichéd conventions of “youth” such as trout-pout and a completely wrinkle-free face. She will make suggestions tailored to your goals which you might have never considered. I, for example, had started Botox injections with another doctor several times a year at 40 years old (when having a wrinkled forehead was very unfashionable), then started fillers underneath my eyes and in my cheeks toward my late forties. By the time I turned 50, I hated the way my face looked. My face was puffy with squinty eyes, but I didn’t know what to do to stop looking “old.” When I looked in the mirror, I didn’t look like me anymore. All my pretty features had disappeared. And, when the fillers and Botox started to wear off, I got scared about looking haggard and deflated. I thought that I just had to accept the fact that I had now gotten ugly, and it was really, really depressing! I then decided to visit Dr. Chui-Collins. I talked to her about being Asian, and wanting a natural Asian look. She really got it. She took out the filler from under my eyes, and told me that people always have “tear troughs” under their eyes, and it looks weird when you don’t have them. She also said that too much filler under the eyes for Asians can make their eyes look even smaller. Instead, she injected Botox in my forehead in such a way to give my eyes and brows a lift, and then injected filler into the orbital area in the temples which loses fat/volume as we age. This subtle volume gave me a more youthful look and it also gave my eyelids a little lift. She also suggested putting a bit of filler in the bridge of my nose (I have a non-existent Asian bridge) which drew the spectator’s eye more toward the center of my face and made my eyes look wider, as well as making my face a little more narrow. She also injected filler into my chin to elongate my face and create a counterbalance to my wide cheeks and my descending jawline. Finally, she suggested an Ultherapy session for my face and neck which made my skin tighter and refreshed looking. I had a wonderful result, and I really trust Dr. Chui-Collins’ personal opinion, her aesthetic, and surgical skill. She is patient and really listens. I was able to achieve such a great result with Dr. Chui-Collins — with no down-time! I am okay looking my age, but I also want to look great for my age, and I have achieved this with Dr. Chui Collins. I look like me again, and look refreshed at 53 years old. An additional perk is that she has a beautiful, new office located within walking distance of the Powell St. BART station. She has a new operating room right in her office for more involved procedures which is convenient and discreet. Jasmine is her patient care coordinator and is very personable, as well as prompt and professional with scheduling.
I have always wanted to get otoplasty my whole life due to my protruding ears, and I finally pulled the trigger with Dr. Chiu-Collins. I couldn't be any happier that I chose her! Every doctor has a different style when it comes to cosmetic surgery. Dr. Chiu-Collins' style is natural and real, instead of barbie doll/plastic surgery-gone wrong. She was AMAZING from beginning to end. She's not only personable & friendly, but also extremely experienced & knowledgeable. Dr. Chiu-Collins was so patient with my long list of questions and doesn't mind adding on extra check-up appointments to make sure everything is going well (no extra cost). This is when you know the doctor truly cares. She also is so detail oriented and isn't afraid to go back to fix something if it doesn't look perfect to her. I had an amazing experience and would strongly recommend her to anyone looking to do facial cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Chiu-Collins is AMAZING! I came in initially convinced that buccal fat removal was my last hope after having a poor experience with another provider where I left unsatisfied with the results of Botox as a remedy for my lifelong insecurity of a round face. I very much appreciated that Dr. Chiu-Collins herself provided a proper evaluation of my facial anatomy and was blown away by the thorough explanation she provided when developing a treatment plan. Rather than go under the knife, she recommended something that I hadn't previously considered - creating dimension via injectables. It's very obvious that she picks candidates for surgery very carefully and cares about creating an experience that's specifically tailored for YOU. From beginning to end, I was SO happy with the ease of the scheduling process, procedure and results. This woman is a magician - I trust her judgement completely and highly, highly recommend her. Thank you Dr. Chiu-Collins!
For those who are in a similar position to mine, I hope that this will aid your decision-making process about whether to go for dermal fillers. I am a fifty-something man who exercises in order to maintain good physical and mental health. And I was wondering if I really could improve my appearance in a subtle way. This is where dermal fillers gave me a viable alternative with which to get the little boost I wanted. So, after shopping around for a reputable and trustworthy doctor, I found Dr. Lynn L. Chiu-Collins and scheduled a consultation. During this consultation, Dr. Chiu-Collins and I thoroughly discussed my situation and her medical experience and philosophy. There was no doubt in my mind that she was the medical professional I could entrust for the procedure. For your own benefit, I must point out that you ought to be mindful not to overweigh the before and after pictures you will see, should the case be that they do not completely convince you. This is where Dr. Chiu-Collins’ expertise is absolutely pivotal, in helping you to arrive at your decision. I went ahead with dermal fillers, and could not be more ecstatic to report that the whole experience was perfectly fine. Nothing outside the range of expectations arose. However, it bears mentioning that I made certain to follow the pre- and post-procedure guidelines to the letter, and this undoubtedly went a long way—at least, I believe that it did in my case. Thus, in sum, if you are hesitant or leery about enjoying the look you want and can have, let me to assure you that Dr. Chiu-Collins will not only recommend only what is right for you, but will also get you terrific results—she will take best care of you.
Dr. Chiu-Collins is an amazing plastic surgeon. I looked around for a plastic surgeon because I was in need of surgery to fix a deviated septum that made breathing difficult. After my initial consultation with Dr. Lynn Chiu-Collins, I was convinced that she would be the right person to help me. So, we scheduled a rhinoplasty surgery to fix the deviated septum and to straighten out the appearance of my nose. Today, I cannot express enough my appreciation to Dr. Chiu-Collins for her excellent skills as a plastic surgeon and caring provider. My breathing and personal appearance have improved greatly and so has my self esteem. If you need a rhinoplasty or other facial surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Chiu-Collins. Yes, you are definitely making the right choice for your facial surgery. On another note, I couldn't help but to ask about other procedures that were available that would give me a more youthful look. During my next consultation with Dr. Chiu-Collins, she recommended that a nonsurgical product, "Sculptra" would work best to achieve the desired results based on my needs. After a few office visits, I am proud to say that the outcome has been amazing and that I look at least 10 years younger. Wow, "Sculptra" really works! My wife doesn't know that I have used "Sculptra" yet she often now comments on how handsome I look. I get so shy but I'll get used to her compliments, eventually. Thank you so much, Dr. Chiu-Collins. I am much happier today because of your help. P.S., I want to also recognize Jasmin, who has provided excellent professional service and support throughout my experience with your office. You have 5 stars and I wish I could give you all more!
This is a review for Dysport injected into the masseter muscle in order to contour the face. I am really pleased with the results and plan on getting repeat treatments when my masseter muscles begin to rebuild. Background: I grew up with a wide square-ish jaw that I had always wished was slimmer. I never considered getting actual jaw surgery because it seemed way too invasive and I don't have the time to take off from work to do something like that. A few months ago I learned about how you could use Botox to weaken the muscles of the jaw to atrophy in order to shrink them. This seemed much easier and so I paid my first visit to a plastic surgeon. As with any consultation we took the time to learn about each other. I told her about the issues that I had with my face, and I also was able to learn about my doctor's personality, which I consider to be really important when choosing a practitioner. She confirmed I was a candidate and recommended that I have 100 total Botox equivalent units of Dysport injected split between both sides of my jaw. The procedure: the actual injection was pretty uncomfortable for someone like me. I realize that I have a really low tolerance for pain, but the actual procedure wasn't like super painful it was more uncomfortable. I experienced some bruising, which faded over the next few weeks. I will admit that my jaw felt pretty weird for the next month. It definitely felt difficult and awkward to chew sometimes, but the bonus was I didn't crunch my teeth during sleep anymore. When I arrived for the procedure, I expressed my concerns about the dosage, which seemed really high compared to other things I had read on the Internet and on real self. My doctor took the time to listen to my concerns, and I eventually trusted her and went with the original dosage that she recommended. In terms of the actual results, it took about three or four weeks to actually start noticing a change and my jaw continued to slim for the next two months or so. I definitely feel more confident and I'm so happy that I've achieved the face shape that I've always wanted.
I had my first Ultherapy experience with Dr. Chiu-Collins back in March, and I am very happy with the result. Dr. Chiu is professional and approachable during our first consultation. She took the time answering all my questions and also she told me what to expect regarding the Ultherapy results-- It is not a facelift, instead, it tightens and lifts in a more subtle way, which is exactly what I need at this stage. I decided to do Ultherapy only on lower face areas, since this is the area where really needs some help. The whole procedure was fairly painless and I didn't even experience much redness (I brought a mask in case I need it, but I didn't use it since the redness or swelling were minimum). I did take arnica as instructed, and there was a little swelling the second morning when I wake up , but that went away very quickly. I went to work the second day with my usual light makeup. I do however experienced minor aches around jaw lines, and it went away after 7 days or so. I started to notice the tightening result fairly quick-about 3-4 days, and I am about 4 months into it, I like how my lower face is a little more contoured, and the slight double chin is diminishing! I didn't experience any fat loss, and I think it is really important to find a qualified doctor to perform Ulthera instead of getting it in a spa, even if the latter might costs less. I highly recommend Dr. Chiu-Collins for Ultherapy! I plan to try the full face+neck Ulthera next year.
Thank you for your question. I absolutely agree with your statement that "Women with a long space between their nose and lips look older, severe and masculine". A long, heavy or drapey upper lip can unattractively cover the upper teeth, at rest or even when someone smiles. This long lip can be due to aging, due to stretching of the skin from years of dermal filler overuse, or even due to just normal genetics in a younger person. A lip lift surgery is an excellent solution for improving a long upper lip. With good surgical technique, the incision is well-camouflaged in the crease where the nose meets the top of the lip, just under the nostrils. Although it is always possible to have a visible scar, in our practice we have never had anyone complain about their scar. In fact, the scar is usually difficult to detect at the one year visit or even after a few months. Best wishes and i hope that was helpful for you.
Thank you for your question. Although Ultherapy does a good job of "turning back the clock", the normal aging process continues of course. In my opinion, the natural aging will never completely catch up to where it would have been had you not done Ulthera. At any given time your skin is still "in a better place" than it would have been had you never had an Ultherapy treatment. Most of our patients like their result and choose to have another treatment 1.5 to 2 years later. We tell our patients that Ultherapy is a great way to give your skin mild tightening and improvement but it does not compare to the dramatic effects of a surgical facelift or necklift. Good candidate selection for Ultherapy is paramount. If you are not a good candidate for Ultherapy, your provider ideally should inform you of that. It is ideal to be evaluated for Ulthera candidacy by a surgeon who performs Ultherapy as well as facelift/necklifts/eyelids/etc. That way you know you're always going to get an appropriate assessment. They can tell you about the expected outcome for either approach. We choose our ultherapy candidates very carefully after thorough assessment of skin type, bone structure, tissue and fat volume, etc... In our practice, our patients are very satisfied with their Ultherapy results and most patients choose to repeat it every 1.5 to 2 years as a preventative or maintenance measure.
Ultherapy is very good at nonsurgically reorganizing your collagen and making your skin look tighter. Ultherapy in the face can help improve the look of the jawline (and early jowling) by tightening and lifting the weight of the lower face soft tissue that is "collapsing" onto the jawline. Ulthera does not do anything for volume replacement. Volume is addressed with the facial fillers like Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Radiesse, Perlane or Belotero, or with surgical Fat Transfer. With certain types of bone structure, early sagging and volume loss, some patients who undergo volumization can also get a significant side-benefit of nonsurgical "lift," as these heavy upper face soft tissues get hoisted back up and no longer sag onto the lower face and jawline anymore. Ultherapy and Volumization together is a great and very powerful combination that we use very often in our practice to achieve natural looking "nonsurgical facelift" results for the right candidate. It is also ideal to be evaluated by a provider who is knowledgeable of the skeletal/surgical anatomy of the face for this deeper level volumization and nonsurgical "lifting". Hope you find this helpful. Best wishes!
The collagen remodeling from Ultherapy does not go away, however the normal aging process continues. Thank you for submitting your question. Otoplasty can be performed with local anesthesia, moderate sedation, or a general anesthesia. It is extremely well-tolerated under local anesthesia alone, so we perform most otoplasties in our practice this way. We often provide a small amount of oral sedation to make the patient more comfortable. We then proceed with injection of a nerve block and local anesthetic. The patient feels no pain during the procedure. Most patients prefer local anesthesia however we take into consideration the patient's comfort and anxiety level and we are open to providing whatever level anesthesia is necessary and/or desired.
