I had two keloids on my shoulders from liposuction is done 10 years ago. They weren't horrible but still prevented me from wearing tops that showed my arms. I spent close to $1000 on laser treatments before deciding I wanted to try to get them surgically removed. Anyone who has done the research knows the long term results aren't promising. Most doctors either won't perform the procedure or won't show you lasting results from their patients. I consulted with a doctor from the Toronto Cosmetic Clinic who seemed optimistic about doing the procedure. The cost was almost $1000 for both shoulders. At first, the results were great but within weeks the keloids began growing back and this time much larger. I decided to opt again for surgical intervention for the next few years and just focus on steroid injections and lasers -- even going out to Oakville for treatment (I live downtown). Still, after hundreds spent, I saw virtually no difference. I was deflated until a friend of mine mentioned she had seen excellent results from Dr. Bienenstock. I reluctantly made an appointment and something about Dr. B's knowledge and demeanor made me feel comfortable going through this emotional and physical journey again. I am a year out from one shoulder. He charged me $250 -- I indicated it was $500 because that will be the cost for both scars. After more than 12 months, there is no keloid! It's not a perfect scar, there was a bit of spreading but it's 100% flat. I was starting to give up hope and I am so thankful I met Dr. B when I did. Though Dr. B is a miracle worker after care plays a huge role in your results when it comes to scar revision. I probably did hours of research and had a scar reduction system that I adhered to for 9 months. Please feel free to PM if you have any questions! I will post pics when I get a chance.
