I had always thought laser eye correction was out of reach. My spouse had told me it wasn't and so I began to research different practices and procedures. I visited many offices, narrowed it down to three and then did some more research. One opthamologist who has solid reputation and a cornea specialist told me no way no how to lasik but he would consider PRK because of my cornea being so thin. Initially I assumed he just pushed that service because it was lower cost or some cynical thought, but i decided to do some research and even posted on Real Self. In the end, the fact that this doctor wouldn't even take my money for lasik if I tried and his credentials as a cornea specialist, made me confident in his ability and assessment. The recovery was faster and much easier than expected. It's been three and a half years and it's one of the best things ever! I have hormonal imbalances, so sometimes I get excessive dry eye which causes blurriness that's remedied by eye drops. Also turned out I have a genetic condition that effects collagen, thinner corneas is quite common in this condition. I love my eyes, never having to remember contacts, solution or extra lenses. It's made caring for a toddler easier. I would absolutely recommend this procedure and the doctor I had.
I could not be happier with my surgery. My parents were terrified of the idea of LASIK, which gave me all the more reason to choose the best surgeon I could possibly find. The procedure was quick and only mildly uncomfortable; this was because I already have unusually dry eyes. I made a quick, fun, step-by-step video of it here:
