Was in Huntsville for a day and had seen previous review about Permalip implant. Dr. McLain recommended I try fillers in lips before implant. Good idea!! He was able to fit me in for Juvederm, got 1 syringe in mostly upper lip. Minimal swelling, love it. The office is beautiful, his staff is very accommodating, Dr. McLain is professional and adorable! Updated on 14 Jun 2016: I loved the filler after first syringe, but it does settle in after about a week, and I wanted a little more "plump" Got 2nd syringe yesterday. Love it!! Still in the initial swollen stage but I can tell I will be great once it settles in. I can't say enough good things about Dr. McLain and his office staff!! They are great!! Updated on 18 Jun 2016: Got 2nd syringe of Juvederm on Monday. This is how the look 4 days later. I really like having fuller top lip!!
I had the lip implants on Thursday and today is Sunday. My lip has minimal bruising and I have had no problems whatsoever except for the normal swelling that comes along with it. It will still take some time but I am very pleased with my result this far. I do recommend it with a doctor who will answer your questions thoroughly and take the time to work with you to make sure you understand the size that you need and the after care. This is going to be Awesome! I will take photos in one week and post them. Kate Updated on 15 Aug 2014: Hi it's been one week since I had my perma lip surgery on my upper lip. I have had very slight discomfort, no bruising, slightly chapped in a few spots and that is all. I am pleased with the results so far, and I am plannning on having my lower lip implant next. I think it's Fabulous and recommend it. Updated on 15 Aug 2014: Updated on 16 Aug 2014: This is the 9th day since I had the perma lip surgery on my upper lip. Today I have no signs of ever having surgery, and my lips feel soft and more youthful. I feel more confident about it and am ready to show it off. Updated on 22 Aug 2014: I feel Great about my permalip procedure for my upper lip, I am going to do the lower lip and keep it at 4mm because it looks more natural for me. I am satisfied where it is at. Pleased.
The picture is not great but I think I see what you are referring to. It appears that you have a more prominent depression just right of the chin. This is called the prejowl sulcus. A bit of filler, like Radiesse would likely greatly improve the appearance and lend more symmetry to your jawline.Landon McLain MD, DMD Huntsville, AL
If you have an infection you should follow up with your dentist, periodontist or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Infection can lead to recession of the gums and loss of bone. This does not sound like malpractice though.Landon McLain MD, DMD Huntsville, AL
at 1 week there should be a fair amount of swelling remaining. I have found that it really takes 2-3 weeks for the majority of swelling to recede. Numbness to the lip this early is also not uncommon. You and your surgeon will be better able to assess things in another few weeks. Hope all goes well and you love your chin implant as most patients typically do. Landon McLain MD, DMD Huntsville, AL.
