Starting over six years ago I began googling information about changing my breast. The time since then I moved 500 miles away from family and lost my husband to cancer and only become more depressed about my sunken chest. I just didn’t feel I looked like the women I was inside. I finally asked my family doctor for a referral and she recommended Grand Strand Reconstructive and Plastic surgery. I eagerly called and was scheduled for an appointment 4 months away. That seemed too long. First my intent was to have a my breast tissue removed and implant reconstruction. My mom had breast cancer young(she recovered), I just watched my husband’s long tortured demise from cancer and with such little breast tissue mammograms were humiliating with the radiologist squeezing skin and saying I can’t get much. I kept calling the office for cancellations and I was granted an appointment 2 months earlier than my original one. Yay especially because I’m a teacher and I wanted to try to get this done during summer break. Dr. Goh came in without much introduction but she really listened. however I was too intimidated by the process to explain my Whole intentions. I left with the task of getting EKG results from my primary before we could move. That took forever but the office was easy to work with. Later I had Dr. Goh on the phone and explained my true intent was to remove chances of cancer and improve my appearance. She thoroughly explained I’d have to go to another surgeon for insurance purposes and he’d have to push it through insurance. I thought long and hard because I didn’t want to be irresponsible single parent but I really hated getting dressed, trying to fit bras so didn’t look like I’d already had breast removed. I was too eager to wait and got my procedure scheduled with Dr.Goh. She was comprehensive about what to abstain from prior to surgery (green tea, fish oil). I was adamant I wanted modest and natural and to look like me before 7 years of breast feeding! The day before my 49 th birthday without anyone from my extended family knowing my teenage daughter drove me to surgery. I took a Valium mid morning and the surgery started unfortunately later at 1 pm. I was scheduled for noon so the 40 minutes I waited felt like to torture because I was guilt ridden for taking risks but committed to see the outcome I’ve dreamed about for years. Once I was taken back to begin everything moved quickly. I specifically remember Dr. Goh holding my hand conversing while the anesthesia took effect. Soon I was up and my daughter who had dropped me off was there smiling. Shortly I was dressed and on my way. I guzzled ginger ale which I regretted when I threw up in the car but overall I never needed anti nausea meds I was sent home with. I think because I communicated my usual sensitivity to sedation and the anesthesiologist adjusted accordingly. That night I had some soup took Tylenol, cycled through Oxy and Valium as directed and I slept great. The next day I spaced out the heavier meds and by day two I gave up all but the Tylenol. The next day I had an early post op appointment which was fast and uneventful. Dr .Goh said I ended up with 300 cc moderate profile silicone implant under the muscle. I am 5’6 about 120 pounds. Right before surgery I emphasized I wanted natural not something that would standout when I go to church!! She said that is the largest she could go in the OR because my small frame couldn’t accommodate more. I am now three week’s post the procedure and I’m beyond happy. I’m still nervous that something will go wrong. Every twitch or pain makes me think of the cautions I read about on this site and from the ominous Google. I’m trying to enjoy the moment. I love wearing clothes again, I love feeling like my anatomy is how it used to be before gave years of myself to others. If you are pained with making this decision because of the implications on your family I can’t recommend because each family is different but it has made me happier to be around I can definitely confirm that!
I was impressed with Dr Goh from the start. Her bedside manner and honesty was impressive. I was asking about a procedure and she did not think that would be best for me and she presented pictures of why for me to make my own decision. She and her staff took time with me on multiple appointments before and after surgery. I feel sure that whatever I plan to have done in the future, she will be the one I go to. I have referred family and friends to her for multiple procedures.
I went to see Dr. Goh and right from the start I felt comfortable and secure that I made the correct decision and chose the perfect doctor. The staff was a joy to deal with and Dr. Goh made me feel like I was her only patient. I look great and feel even better. I can't thank Dr. Goh and her staff enough for making this experience a wonderful one. Gail
I cannot say enough about the care, the precision, knowledge, compassion, and expertise of Dr. Goh and her entire staff. Even before my surgery Dr. Goh was incredibly thorough, she referred me for a bilateral ultrasound and mammogram due to fibrous tissues and nodules. She explained everything to me thoroughly which helped relieve the anxious of knowing I had questionable tissue in my breast. Once those steps were completed the surgery came and her kindness left a huge impression on me. The anesthesiologist and operating staff were unmatched in professionalism and a genuine sense of compassion - they actually cared about me as an individual, I wasn’t just another patient. The post op care was tailored specifically to my surgery and post op needs, this is rare and did not go unnoticed. Overall Dr. Goh did everything she told me she would do, she walked me through everything, her staff were encouraging, informative, so profession, and so caring. This is my second surgery and my only regret is that my first experience was not with Dr. Goh and her amazing team. I had no idea such a team even existed.
Dr. Goh and her staff were amazing! From the first initial consultation I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of time she spent with me. She was very personable and took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. Her bedside manner was impressive and she truly put me at ease the morning of the surgery. She did a wonderful job on my surgery and I would highly recommend her!
I have now had a total of three procedures with Dr. Goh. She has done a modified thigh lift (I had a problem with one thigh at the top I wanted corrected), a breast reduction and lift, and a tummy tuck, lipo, no muscle repair. I am in my mid 50's and had an ugly belly after 3 children, weight gain and loss. I knew my efforts to look better could not be fully achieved until I had that undesirable belly taken care of. I can't believe it's me when I look in the mirror. She and her staff are amazing, caring and professional. I could not be happier with the results. I feel sooo much better about myself now. Thank you Dr. Goh!
I was beyond impressed with my experience at this physician’s office. My first contact with Dr. Goh and her staff completely blew me away by how helpful and kind everyone was as well as how fast they responded to me. A lot of doctors and staff don’t realize how important it is to have administration but this office is definitely about their patients. If you are looking for a doctor whose medical knowledge is encyclopedic, treats you top notch, listens and explains in detail, and takes the proper time to care and make you feel comfortable this is the office you are looking for. I have had nothing but positive experiences with everyone. The office is clean and they are always on time. One of my favorite things is Dr. Goh is always available and checks on her patients. I am a very pleased patient for 10 years now and will continue to drive from Florence to receive outstanding service! Barbara Florence SC
I was a 36DD and I went down to a C (maybe B, not sure on the exact size because I haven't gone bra shopping yet). Dr. Goh and her staff are super nice. The atmosphere throughout the place was very nice and relaxing. Before my surgery, I met with her a couple times and she talked with me, she made sure I wasn't scared (I've never had surgery before this) and she told me everything that would happen. The day of the surgery I went right in and right out. There was only two things I didn't like: the vein in my left hand wouldn't work so they had to puncture me twice for the IV (neither of us could help that though!) and after the surgery I had drains in me for a week. She told my family that out of all of her patients, I was the THIRD one to have drains. It sucked and they were very bothersome, but everything was so much better once they were taken out. My boobs are feeling so much lighter, my back and neck don't hurt NEARLY as bad as they used to, my shirts fit really well, and it makes me look thinner. I am so glad I had this procedure done. Updated on 5 Jul 2016: I went to my doctor. She said below was abscess and around my nipple was fat something (I forget the word she used), and my (lazy) body was trying to push the stitches out in both places. She gave me a numbing shot for the bottom and it hurt severely but she cut it open down there and took the stitch out. Around my nipple: the top scabbed up again so she didn't cut in to that, but she digged into the bottom one and cut that stitch out. She prescribed me antibiotic pills and I had to buy some antibiotic cream to apply. I feel so much better. :)
I am 55 years old and so thankful to Dr. Goh for Changing my life I am so happy with the results of my surgeries a tummy tuck and leg lift that I have dreamed to be able to do for myself many years. She has given me more self confidence and encouragement to believe in myself she is honest with you about what surgery you need and what you really don't need. She is compassionate and she will be with you every step of the way to make your dream come true. Thank you Dr. Goh and your wonderful staff for all you have done for me.
I had a double mastectomy in April of 2014 with delayed reconstruction. Tissue expanders were placed Oct 2014. My skin was much thinner after radiation so as recommended by Dr Goh, I chose to wait for final transfer, allowing expanders to sit. Final transfer was done Nov 2015 with amazing results! As a survivor, one thing I share with fellow patients is experience. We all look for someone like us that has been through similar experience. Upon request some friends have looked at my final results. Most are amazed, fellow survivors cant believe how great my implants look, with minimal scarring. Some friends have compared theirs to mine voicing how unsatisfied they are. I could not be happier. Dr Goh does an awesome job. She is gifted, and her work is her art.
