I have had a lower eye bag on my left eye since I was 25 due to an allergic reaction. The swelling never completely subsided. I decided it was time for my eyes to look my age and went and had a lower blepharoplasty with a TCA chemical pill, as I also have Icepick scarring from severe acne in my teen years. Today I am only nine days post up, so far it is worth it. However, the tightness and blurry vision is still there and a little worrisome. The anesthesiologist made me uncomfortable. The doctor has been great. I will update when I have more news.
Dr. Eftekhari is an extremely knowledgeable and caring doctor. I have now seen him for four different eye-related conditions. He was quickly able to diagnosis each condition and to develop the least evasive procedure to resolve the issue. Many doctors strive to deliver a patient-first experience. Without question, Dr. Eftekhari delivers on this promise.
I recently had a bilateral blepharoplasty procedure with Dr. Eftekhari. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure during my consultation visit and what to expect before, during and after. I requested that my procedure be performed with a conservative approach so that I didn’t look cosmetically altered. My procedure was performed in the office. Dr. Eftekhari kept me informed throughout the entire process as to what to expect step-by-step. During my post-operative recovery, I followed Dr. Eftekhari’s instructions especially with the use of ice packs. My recovery was so successful that I never had pain and there was no need for any pain medication. I am very pleased with my results and very excited about the overall cosmetic appearance! I would highly recommend Dr. Eftekhari.
I think the amount of eyelid showing above your lashes is asymmetric, and as one responder observed, if you look closely enough at other people, that is a very common area to have a little asymmetry. Whether it bothers you enough to have it addressed is a personal question that nobody can decide for you. Filler can mask this asymmetry some, but it would be hard to make it completely symmetric. I would say fillers could get you 60-70% of the way there, and if you would be happy with that it's an option. Agree with other poster Dr. Taban that an ASOPRS oculoplastic specialist may be your best bet since fillers in the upper eyelid can be very tricky. I have seen it last longer than a year in this area but it's person-dependent based on how quickly your body resorbs it. Best of luck.
This is a good question. Cryolipolysis (Coolsculpting) can freeze the fat around your body and make it shrink, including in some cases around the face. The fat around the eyes is not a good area to have this treatment because the freezing technique is too close to the eyes and, even if it was safe, it would be difficult to calibrate the amount of fat you are trying to make go away. Your best bet would be to get an opinion from a qualified oculofacial plastic surgeon who is part of ASOPRS (American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) who focuses only on eyelid surgery to determine what treatment would help the best, be it laser, filler, or surgery. There are many great specialists in your area.
Thanks for your question. The masseter muscle is a large and powerful muscle of the face. It's safe to get neurotoxin (BoTox/Xeomin/Dysport) injected into this area as an off-label use for hypertrophy in this area and for teeth grinding. There are several locations along the muscle that can be injected, including at higher points near the cheek bone as well as lower along the jawline.
Thanks for your question. In my opinion and experience, filler in the cheek area can enhance the appearance of your cheeks and may give some lift to the skin overlying the area where the filler was injected. When injected into the cheeks, filler alone is not powerful enough to lift the lower face along the jawline -- which is the area where a facelift would do it's work. Filler into the cheeks may be able to give more harmony and symmetry to the lines just above your lips, but it's important to have reasonable expectations about what it can achieve relative to a facelift. I hope that's helpful.
Most patients begin to notice a change in their sensation of how their forehead moves about 3-5 days after injection, and the full effect can take up to 2 weeks to set in.
