While the best option to improve your scars would be a revision facelift, after only 4 years since your last procedure you likely don't have enough skin laxity yet to warrant a revision surgery and may have similar healing issues if there is too much tension on your incisions. While creams and ointment will do nothing for you at this point, you may consider seeking a consultation with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon with experience in treating scars with lasers or even dermabrasion which can help mask and blend the scars to become less noticeable.  

Though it is difficult to say for sure based on your picture, after 8 months I would expect the scar to be flatter and less noticeable. It looks like you may have developed what's called a "hypertrophic scar". I would recommend going back to your surgeon for follow up as a steroid injection may help to decrease and soften the scar tissue.

From the pictures you posted it's difficult to determine whether your ear shape is caused by unfurled helical rim cartilage with redundant helical rim skin or whether it involves a third crus (stahl ear) deformity. Without knowing the cause of the issue it would hard to give an accurate cost estimate for the procedure.

The left ear appears to have an excess of helical cartilage that is folding over and causing the deformity. While removing the redundant cartilage causing that folding is not a difficult procedure and could give a flatter and more natural curve to the superior helical fold, reducing the "pointiness" would likely require additional cartilage work. The danger of trying to do too much to your ears is that the skin is very thin over the ear and scarring can be difficult to anticipate as things heal down, so there can be a lot of unpredictabilty associate with surgery in that area.. Generally I would caution that the smaller the refinement the lower the potential reward and the greater risk of making things worse.

To correct an antihelical fold multiple non-absorbable sutures are typically used so that even if one loosens there won't necessarily be a noticeable cosmetic change. Your doctor is correct that over time scar formation and new tissue growth can help to further tack down the results though scar formation can be unpredictable and the inherent memory of the cartilage may result in some unfurling of the new fold should multiple sutures rupture.
