Massaging breasts after breast implant surgery is important after smooth silicon implant insertion. My nurse instructs and demonstrates how to do breast massage to all my operated patients during their second visit to the clinic which is on the seventh day after surgery. The massage is done by gently pushing the breast implant in the breast tissue in upwards and upwards and inward direction (towards chin) and upwards and outwards (towards shoulders) do it for 10 counts in each direction and continue it for as long as advised. Hello, If you are feeling sick just before your cosmetic surgery and especially the ones which involves prosthetic implants or foreign bodies or large dissection with prolonged operative time (Mommy makeover) you should consult your operating surgery. A thorough physical exam is required. If you have bacterial infection and you undergo invasive surgery chances are your implants get colonised with the bacteria. Im really concerned since my surgery is January 7.. a lot of people get sick in the winter.. so im really worried about getting sick before my surgery since my doctors papers have a warning about getting a cough or cold... If i get a cough or cold will my surgery be cancelled? or is it only for REALLY bad coughs.. like one that you need to go to the Dr. for because its so bad?

Hello, Thank you so much for asking this question as it will help a lot of women out there. Capsule formation is natural process and it happens in all the patients after breast augmentation surgery. A good cosmetic surgeons always tries to reduce the chances of thick capsule formation during and following surgery by good operative technique, clean surgical dissection, delicate tissue handling, bloodless pocked formation, reducing chances of contamination, using powder free gloves, using Keller funnel, post op massage etc. when there is capsular contracture you can observe following changes. Change is the size of the breast Change is shape of the breast Breast starts to feel hard Breast starts looking elevated or seems in upward position Breast is painful to touch Cast a radio opaque shadow of your mammogram or routine chest x ray If you notice of of the following changes chances are you are developing capsular contracture and should immediately consult your surgeon. Hello, That’s an interesting question. The breast development starts around puberty and the scientific terminology for that is “thelarche” age of onset of thelarche or breast development varies vastly and it can be as early at 8 years and as late as 16 years and 12 years being average age is usually completed around 18 to 22 years of age. It mostly depend on the age at which your mother started developing breasts as there is strong genetic influence on age of breast development and overall size and shape of the breast. However women’s breast keep on changing throughout her life. During early teen age years the breast are more glandular and firm often labelled as “perky” as the age the glandular component reduces and fatty component increases. After menopause the glandular tissue are very much shrunk and replaced by fatty tissue. Size and shape changes with weight gain and weight loss. Hello, Transplanted hair should not fall so soon after surgery. Now there are many possibilities for your condition. Is you have a strong family history of baldness in early age and you have genetic predisposition you could experience hair fall and deteriorating hai quality in your “native” hair (which were there before hair transplant surgery) and you may mistake them as falling of transplanted hair. Hair Falling off 4 Years After Hair Transplantation (FUE) Procedure

Hello, Thank you so much for your interest in Hair Transplant surgery. Get your surgery done with a doctor who explains the procedure and post op care with the same details and enthusiasm. In my practice I give my patients a printed sheet containing all do’s and dont’s along with appropriate instructions. In case of FUE procedure there will be a dressing on the donor area which is to be kept for 5 to 7 days depending on number of grafts harvested. The recipient site is also kelp covered under surgical cap and you will be given saline solution in a spray bottle to keep that area clean. Gentle shampooing is started after one week. The donor and recipient area is to be kept protected from sunlight for 4-5 weeks by wearing a sports cap. Topical minoxidil is started 4 weeks after hair transplant surgery is the time for a routine follow up according to our protocol. Best Regards,

Hello, Thank you so much for your interest in Hair Transplant surgery. Transplanted hair initially grow and then the root remains viable in the scalp skin and hair shaft falls off within 2 to 3 months of time. This happens to almost 80-90% of the transplanted grafts and it is a normal occurrence and a part of recovery. All these hair roots remain dormant for a couple of weeks and they start to grow again with 4 to 6 months after surgery. So you can say you have 50 to 60% of final result at the end of 6 months after your surgery. The transplanted hair further increase in diameter and length improves in texture and colour in another 4 to 6 months time. There is a lot of inter individual variation in this time line some patients are rapid growers and some take a bit more time. Monthly follow up with your surgeon is recommended. Best Regards

I had a hair transplant of 2600 grafts (FUE method) Nov/08. New hair started to grow around the 3rd month (Feb). I'm now almost at the 6th month(May) after surgery, but I'm not satisfied with the results. While new hair has grown in the frontal area of my head, in the vertex area there has been no visible growth. The new hair in the frontal area (thick, slightly curly, and dark)does not provide good coverage and there are certain frontal areas with hardly any hair. The cost is usually decided by number of grafts transplanted. Hair transplant is more of an art than surgery. You won’t remember saving a few bucks on a surgery after a couple of months but if you’re left with bad hair line, slanting hair line, female pattern hair line for males and vice versa, poor density in the front, “Doll like” of straight hair line then you’ll regret getting a hair transplant surgery through out your rest of the life mainly because baldness in male is socially accepted but poor hair line is not. How Much Does FUE Hair Transplant Cost?

Pain and swelling due to edema is normal for first couple of days following surgery. Some pain and soreness is expected in all the treated areas but pain and soreness both will be manageable with oral analhesics (pain medicine). There should not be any throbbing pain along with high grade fever. The swelling is minimised with compression garment and MLD. Swelling is maximum on the 15th day after surgery and after that it reduces very rapidly.

I had Liposuction done on my upper/lower ab and love handles. I am 5 days post-procedure and I still have a good bit of discomfort and swelling. Is this normal, and how long does it usually take before the swelling goes away?
