I had a NovaThread PDO lift on 5/17/18. The procedure took about an hour and I had 10 threads put into my lower face. They used an injectable anesthetic and Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) which I self-administered as needed. The procedure wasn’t very painful – mostly a feeling of pressure or fullness as the threads were put in. The wounds were tiny – little pin pricks that looked like blemishes. Some places say this can be a “lunchtime” procedure but I don’t think so. I’d suggest doing it on a Thursday or Friday and taking the weekend to let things settle down. I was able to go to the grocery store afterwards and just looked like I had bad skin. But I did have a little swelling and I was sore so I didn’t want to put on makeup. You will notice an immediate difference that is supposed to get better as the sutures dissolve and are replaced with collagen. For post-procedure pain two regular strength Tylenol was sufficient and I only needed it for about 48 hours. Things to note: for a week to 10 days you can’t sleep on your side or face, no vigorous exercise, and you can’t open your mouth very wide (e.g. no big apples). I found chewing uncomfortable for the first couple of days and stuck to softer food. If you have wrinkly areas like your chin, they can put in short sutures in a cross-hatch pattern to smooth it out. I found those results much better (more even) than filler and with no bruising. I was very happy with the smoothing below my cheekbones in particular. I also like how my face stays in place when I bend over during yoga – no more Shar-Pei face.
Generally feeling older and face looking it. I had Juvederm, and Botox. Dr. Nern did a great job. About 1 day of discomfort and about 5 days for the bruising to disappear. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I do not save filler because of the risk of infection. Most companies make 1/2 syringes if you only need a little.
Botox (or other botulinum toxin like Dysport or Xeomin) can be used on the opposite side of the bells palsy to make the sides of your face look more even until you recover.
It is not uncommon to get a little swelling after a lip injection. The uneven swelling may be due to a small bruise or if there is a collection of product in one spot. It may take a week or so to see the final result. I would recommend going back to your injector soon so that they can massage out the ball or tell you if a bruise is going to show up. If there is too much product in one side, your injector can dissolve a little bit of it to make it even.
Infiltrative basal cell carcinomas can have small roots that can go much deeper than can be seen with the eye. Curettage frequently cannot treat these roots because the normal collagen surrounding them blocks the curette from being effective. Mohs surgery is the surgical equivalent to taking the bad spot out of an apple. The cancer containing skin is removed and then the edges are evaluated to see if any cancer remains (like looking at the underside of the piece of apple that was removed to see if there is any brown at the edges). If cancer is still at the edge, the surgeon goes back to the exact spot where the cancer still is and takes more until it is gone. You can find an experienced Mohs surgeon through the Mohs College or the American Society for Mohs Surgery.
