The MonaLisa Touch treatment for lichen sclerosus is 5 treatments, 6 weeks apart.&nbsp; The company has done studies on this, and it has been shown that lichen sclerosus responds to 5 far better than less than 5.&nbsp; I&nbsp;have women who have had 3 or 5 treatments for lichen sclerosus, and those with 5 do significantly better.&nbsp; It is with cracks and tough spots as well as generalized itching and irritation.&nbsp; Go for it.

I’ve already had the recommended 3 laser treatments with the last being 3 months ago. I recommend you see a gynecologist who performs labiaplasty and who is familiar with fistulas for an exam and evaluation.&nbsp; These are likely two separate problems, but a thorough and proper exam will help show the diagnosis.&nbsp; It may be suture or scars or other processes.&nbsp; There are ways to diagnose fistulas based on what the exam findings are and your symptoms. &nbsp;A thorough gynecologist will be able to diagnose the problem and recommend the proper treatment.

I had labiaplasty 1 year ago and I can feel sutures (I think?) under the skin still. If i roll the skin between my fingers it feels like sharp grains of sand that’s only way I can describe it. I saw a gyn who just said yes it is suture remnants that haven’t dissolved and wrong type used. What should I do? I also had a lot of tissue removed at bottom of labia and now have a constant fecal smell in my labia - is this a fistula maybe or is the suture remnants that smell bad? Help! Thank you

The surgical sites appear to be healing.&nbsp;&nbsp;Keep protecting the area and be careful not to catch any sutures.&nbsp; Follow up with your surgeon if you have any extra concerns; and remember, the final product will not be visible until several weeks after surgery.&nbsp; Hang in there.

I had labiaplasty two weeks ago. Swelling is down and not as painful. Still have lighr bruising ans stitches. The stitches are long and if I tug in any of them by accident (i.e. when I start to sit down) it’s painful. How long will it take for them to dissolve/fall off? Also, I’m worried about the clit hood; is there a “lost” stitch on the right side (see pictures)?

If you are bothered only by the labia,&nbsp;you should&nbsp;choose a cosmetic gynecologist who is experienced in labiaplasty, which is not your general gynecologists in town.&nbsp; This is not just a standard procedure, but a very specialized procedure where you convey your wishes and expectations to the surgeon and they are met with a great deal of accuracy.&nbsp; There are several women who are not happy after their labiaplasty.&nbsp; If I&nbsp;were needing a specialized surgery like labiaplasty myself, I&nbsp;would be willing to travel to a cosmetic gynecologist with experience who can listen and meet my expectations and get the ideal result the first time.&nbsp; Insurance generally does not pay for this, but you can check with your plan.&nbsp; If you don't have labiaplasty done by an experienced surgeon, don't have high expectations of your results.&nbsp;&nbsp;Good luck with your decision!&nbsp;

My labia minora are ridiculously long and it seems like the older I get, the worse they get. Ugh. They're constantly hurting, irritated and swollen from my clothes. It's all I can think about all day because I'm always hurting and uncomfortable. I'm a single mom and don't want to date because I'm so self conscious. Will insurance cover this procedure?

See your gynecologist.&nbsp; It is unlikely a consequence from the labiaplasty, but possible, as I&nbsp;have seen this before.&nbsp; It is likely a new development that needs to be evaluated and determined how to manage from there.

I had labiaplasty (trim) done in June 2014. The other day I felt pretty itchy down there and when washing found 2 small bumps right next to each other on my labia (inner side) I think it’s the source of my itch based on the way they felt when I touched them. I thought it was a yeast infection but then I read bumps are not a symptom. Could I still have complications from labiaplasty this far out? I’m married and have been with my husband for several years so I don’t see how it could be an std.

Caution to you:&nbsp;first make sure that the tear has been evaluated thoroughly, because any basic tear should heal on its own!&nbsp; What is the reason for the tear, is it infected or is there another reason why it is not healing?&nbsp;&nbsp;Repairing an area with an underlying problem can perpetuate the underlying problem, especially in the very delicate area of the clitoris and urethra.&nbsp; This means that it may not heal properly again.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;If you choose labiaplasty, choose an experienced cosmetic gynecologist who can meet your expectations.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Finalizing paperwork for a surgical repair of a labial tear I sustained between my labia minora. The tear starts above my vaginal opening/urethra and continues up through my clitoris and the beginning of my clitoral hood. I'm set to have this repaired due to immense pain. I'm also considering reducing my labia minora. Would it would be best to wait until my tear is fully repaired? Risks of doing both procedures in one? What different instruments are used &amp; why is one method better than another?

The labia can certainly be revised at any time as long as it is not soon after surgery.&nbsp; Your tissue has had time to soften and repair as much as it will after the surgery long ago, so any time is appropriate for another surgery.&nbsp; With a thorough exam and discussion of expectations, your expectations can be met in a surgery to achieve the proper appearance.&nbsp; Like you, many women have surgery that is not what they expected or they don't have their expectations met because they visited a surgeon without&nbsp;experience.&nbsp; Choose a cosmetic gynecologist wisely and have a discussion on your expectation and see if you like the plan, good luck.

When I was 27 I am now 60 I felt embarrassed because my labia were long and it could not let my partner look at my vaginal area. I went to a doctor and he shortened my labia but the stitches let small openings which look terrible. I have had a lot of vaginal itching ever since. Can the labia be reconstructed to look a little more normal. I know I lived this way all these years but I just found out about the surgery.

Can a botched operation be fixed years after it is done?

The labia can absolutely be surgically revised to treat your symptoms.&nbsp; It is important to have a goal in mind when you see your cosmetic gynecologist, and you can review other ways in addition to surgery to achieve these goals to decide if surgery is worthwhile to you or if you would benefit from a less invasive management.&nbsp; Sometimes there are other factors that cause pulling symptoms such as hormonal issues, local vaginal pathology, and these should all be evaluated by a cosmetic gynecologist before surgery to plan for an effective solution.&nbsp; You will also explore additional factors such as childbearing, as future childbirth will change the labia again.

I haven't felt like my labia is large until I started having sex and sometimes the penis will 'pull' my labia inside. Can I get this fixed with surgery?
