There are two options a patient has when presented with uneven lips after using filler. Your first option is to continue the use the of hyaluronidase however it is difficult to assess how much will be needed in order to resolve it. If it is just a minor defect I would suggest using a more mild filler such as volbella by juvaderm to add to the existing filler and then contouring it. I would recommend adding lip filler over using hyaluronidase as it's difficult to assess the amount of treatments necessary.

The use of hyaluronic acid fillers can make your upper lip more symmetrical by adding shape, structure and volume. I would suggest starting out conservative for your first treatment with 1cc of juvaderm to make sure that you are satisfied with your appearance afterwards.

Botox can be used around the lips to offer a few subtle enhancements. We use it in our practice to ease the "water bottle" creasing that occurs around the lip, in conjuction with a filler. This does give the added appearance of a plumper lip. We also may select to use it as a means to prevent the lip line from disappearing when a person smiles, "which is considered a gummy smile". This is also referred to as excessive gingival display of the maxilla. This treatment is not effective in adding to the appearance of a plumper lip, instead it is commonly used by dentist and orthodontist to relax the muscles of facial expression and reveal less gum tissue while smiling.

There are several different hyaluronic acid based fillers on the market. Fillers made of this material are by far the most popular due to its ability to soften and increase the lip size immediately. They also help the skin to retain moisture and volume which intern smooth's out lines and creases. I am a big fan of the Juvederm line. More recently with the addition of volbella, it is becoming my new go to product because it delivers consistent results for all lip and skin types.
