I am Dr. Rollers 4th patient for the Gastric bypass. I am very extremely happy my surgery, the Dr.'s and the staff. They are all very kind and friendly. You have question, they help get you the answers. I have been dealing with this clinic and it's staff for 8 almost 9 years and I am still very pleased.
My husband was not "on board" so I took him to my family physician whom we both respect. My Dr. Explained how I was a walking time bomb. I was on 4 blood pressure meds and my blood pressure was in the 160's. my knees and feet hurt from arthritis. I had sleep apnea. I also suffered from depression. My husband realized this was a good option and he gave me my support I made the preliminary appointment, paid $150 up front. Met with the doctor and their dietician I learned my insurance would only pa if I went through 6 months of doctor supervised dieting, exercising, psychological exam and a few other tests. I went monthly for 6 months meeting with the doctor and dietician. They gave group information sessions on healthy eating and how our eating would HAVE to change following surgery. We were given vitamins to take regularly. These vitamins they explained were a must daily for the rest of my life! I made it through the 6 months. June 28, 2011 was my surgery date. The surgeon's time for the ruen x gastric bypass was 52 minutes up to 1.5 hours. Mine was 56 minutes I had 1 night stay in the hospital ( oh how I hoped for 2 for all the pampering etc the hospital was providing) Protein shakes and water were the routine every hour. It was like taking shots. ( 2 ounces of shake and 2 ounces of water. The shakes and water were the only things I was allowed to consume for I'm thinking it was 6 weeks. Somewhere in there they included soft foods. No Doritos Nuts or anything that could become wedged in my new stomach. I was determined to make this work so I remained on shakes while eating other foods. I found it easy to grab a shake in the morning. To this day Feb 17, 2013. I'm still drinking protein shakes probably 5 times a week. I changed brands. My starting weight : 244 BMI : 43 Expected outcome from surgery. Weight 167 I weigh today 152, size 8 jeans and some size medium tops. My BMI is 26.3 Updated on 8 Sep 2015: I wish I could turn back the clock 2 years! I had weight loss surgery 6/2011 (see previous review) About 2 months following the review, my weight crept back on. I was able to maintain my weight around 163-167 pounds until fall 2013. It is September 2015 and I cannot seem to get myself under 182. More like 187-190! Sigh. It seems to me the weight crept on when I stopped drinking protein shakes. I have stomach pain and I'm thinking I may have a peptic ulcer.
The beginning...I went from one test to another, I had numerous doctor visits until finally I had met every requirement for my insurance. Then we submitted everything to the insurance company and even during the holiday they approved in just a few days! Wow! I was scheduled for 4 wks later, 4 days after Christmas, but enough time to do all the required diet things I needed. I still had to have 2 weeks of only eating 1 real meal a day and drinking 2 protein shakes a day, I had to get busy and get in better shape so I walked more and stayed as busy as possible. Finally, after all the waiting it was the day, I was nervous but I had waited so long for this, I was so unhealthy and my health was getting worse, I had tried everything to lose weight but had failed, this was my shot. I was ready! I am working very hard to do everything my doctor has told me to do and I may have set backs but I pray I will never go back to where I was a year ago!Updated on 29 Mar 2011:Here is an update: yesterday I went in for my 12 week check up...drum roll....I have lost 65 lbs. since I went to my first meeting with Dr. Roller in August of 2010. I wanted to dance a jig!! Then I reigned myself in. I had a few set back, just wanted to be honest here, I really have struggled. I was exposed to the stomache virus 2 wks post-op and thought I was never going to get my stomache back under control. Dr. Roller gave me a couple of different meds to ease the upset stomache. Ater that I had 2 rounds of flu!! Now things are so much better I can't even begin to describe how my life has changed! I am still walking and I have begun to add the eliptical machine at the gym. I am only walking 2-4 miles a day due to time but I hope I will get faster and can add more miles like I need to. I feel so much better, Dr. Roller helped me change my life and my family is so proud of me.
i had surgery, 6 months later i got a ulcer that bust in my stomach. when you get a ulcer six moths later you have to get another egd to see if it heal well i made payment from my last surgery and only owe $115 dollars left. amd my max payout from my insurence been meet. so the egd would have been cover 100%. well they wont me to pay that 115 first before they will do the egd to see if i was heal i didnt have it. so they wouldn't do the egd. which mean there money important then your life. so now i am having to ask my family for help to pay for it before the year ends. because my insurance will pay for the egd and 100% right now. it would be different if i wasn't paying my monthly payment on time every month i would understand but i wlways paid my monthly payment. guess that wasn't enough. i reconmmend two friends of mine who is going threw the process right now. if i knew they was going to do this i wouldn't reconmend them to them. i will never reconmend them to any one else.
Oh you are the most important person until your surgery is approved and they have your money then good luck even getting one question answered. You will gain weight, you will have questions, you will never see or hear from them once the check clears. Even the office staff treat you like you are wasting their time once they have your money, I feel sorry for anyone who gets caught up in the fast paced rush to make a decision on spending a large sum of money only to be treated like you no longer matter to them. At least when you go for follow up they put you in a room with others so you can know that you were not alone when you realize you have just been taken for a ride with no long term success. Ever wonder why they end your care - it is because it takes at least a year or a year and 1/2 to actually realize that what I am telling you is true.
