Amazing!! I am now 1 year post op from a medical/cosmetic rhino septoplasty. Dr Ostrom was very thorough with the pre op and made sure I understood everything that had to happen. I was indesive with how I wanted the cosmetic portion of my surgery to go but I showed up the morning of and showed her a few pictures and said just make it proportionate I trust you. And she delivered!! Swelling was very noticeable the first few months like she said but at 3 months it lessened and at 1 year it is perfect!! I love how it looks! Functional results are even better!! I suffered from chronic sinus infections, poor sleep from nasal valve collapse and since surgery I have only been sick a few times and it was very mild and it cleared so fast. I have been completely blown away with how this has changed my life both cosmetically by increasing my confidence and functionally by not being sick so much. I needed an ENT and Plastic Surgeon and I'm so had I was referred to Dr. Ostrom she has forever impacted my life in such a positive way. Even a year later I'm reflecting on how happy I am with my results.
Dr. Ostrom reconstructed my nasal passages and changed my life! After years of choking through the night, I finally went to see an ENT. Not only did she completely rebuild my septum, she continued to stay in touch to ensure the results were stellar. A nice side effect: my nose even looks straighter! I’m not sure why anyone would rate her expertise anything less than five stars.
Dr. Ostrom has done my botox 3 times now and I wouldn’t go to anyone else! I know I’m in good hands when I see her and she makes me feel comfortable every time. Her technique and skill with handling a needle makes the pain very minimal. 10 out of 10, would recommend!
I have VERY thin lips and went to Dr. Ostrom to get lip filler. She took her time making sure I was comfortable, understood what results I wanted to achieve, and made sure I was aware of the potential side effects. She was gentle with the needle and I had minor (unnoticeable to anyone but myself) swelling the next day with Juvaderm. My lips are now full and I love the final result and will be seeing Dr. Ostrom soon for more cosmetic enhancements. Updated on 5 Dec 2019: My before and after lip injections results are attached. Before my injections my lips were very small and uneven and now they fit my face better and I have more confidence. It’s a really fun process and the needles are so small that with numbing cream it’s not painful.
I came in with a deviated septum and a dorsal hump. On the hospital bed I showed her pictures, practically begging her not to remove too much of my dorsal hump and leave at least some of it left. I wanted very minimal change. The main goal of straightening the septum was stated clearly. Immediately after the surgery, the nose was still just as crooked or arguably even more crooked. She had completely hacked off my dorsal hump leaving very little of my bridge remaining. Since then I’ve spoken to 3 double-board certified surgeons that are all members of the rhinoplasty society and they’ve told me that my surgery with Dr. Ostrom was botched and left my with a pollybeak deformity and a still very deviated septum. I politely addressed my concerns to her and she gaslit me saying nothing was wrong and she refused to answer my questions reguarding if anything was done to my supratip or radix during surgery. I’ve then been unable to schedule anymore consultations with her and she NEVER cared about checking up on me as a patient after cast removal. I wanted to like this surgeon but the lack of empathy she had for a 16 year old who’s confidence and quality of life was damaged after the surgery she performed eventually pushed me to make this review. The fact that she has a 100% 1 star review record for septoplastys on this site speaks for itself. Please do not make the same mistake I did with this surgeon. It can ruin your life.
My experience with this doctor is unfortunate . I should have listened to the reviews prior to going up an hour and a half away to visit Dr. Ostrom. I felt like I could not even say anything during the visit because it seemed like she really did not care . First, she looked at my face when I was talking and asserted that my face was very asymmetrical and even went as far as scrutinizing every feature on my face , like I had even asked . I went in for my NOSE not the be judged by a “professional”. I was hoping I could find a solution for my issue, but that was not the case. I am deeply sorry for anyone else who felt unheard or insignificant , it is an awful feeling . This visit caused me to be depressed for months until I found a more skilled , suitable surgeon .
My daughter had surgery and never received follow up phone call that night as promised. She has been out over a week and it just looks botched and the Surgeon obviously did not listen to her or her concerns and did as she was asked not too. Have asked for follow up communications and nothing is being done. She is in a constant state of regret and turmoil and pain. This office doesn’t give a [RS bleep]. Also the surgical staff nurse denied all requests for pain management after she came out of surgery in EXTREME pain. I will never recommend this place or the inexperience of this surgeon and her terrible communications. We currently looking for corrective surgery from a qualified surgeon. Now she complains not being able to breathe through her nose at all.
I went to see Dr. Ostrom today in regards to a complication from a rhinoplasty that was part of my facial feminization surgery in Argentina this past November with Dr. Torres (Torres is a great surgeon though I do have a complication to be fixed). The complication is that my airflow in my left nostril is greatly obstructed making it very hard to breath through that nostril which, in itself, is torturous. Also, as a result, my nose runs constantly. I have to blow it at least once every waking 5 minutes. I went in desperate for some relief and got none. It was an awful experience with Dr. Ostrom and her office from arrival to departure. Check in was extremely confusing with a tablet computer that kept freezing up and staff acted like it was my fault. I have PTSD and anxiety disorders and was already nervous going in; I hoped to find some compassion at a doctor's office but there was none. Dr. Ostrom claims to have experience in FFS, but I have personally interviewed surgeons all over the world, Oregon, California, Arizona, Thailand and Argentina and had never heard of her as someone who has had even any experience at all in FFS much less any recommendations from other women who have gone through it. She seemed agitated that I haven't gone back to Dr. Torres in Argentina to follow-up and down right dismissive of my concerns. I am in agony with constant nose running and inability to fully breath, yet she had absolutely no recommendations for the running nose or how to get relief. Her only recommendation was a surgery that I would have to wait 6 more months for (so I would be 1 year post op) which would include taking a rib (or part of it? She was very unclear about this) and using it to reconstruct my nose, claiming that the only issue is that my nostril collapses on the in breath and needs to be reinforced with other bone. But even if I hold my breath or breathe out, I can still feel the obstruction exactly where the turbinate comes close to the septum. Hers was the second local opinion I've had about this and was contradictory to the first. Sadly, the first was unable to do anything about what she diagnosed as the issue which is more like what it feels like to me, a turbinate is too close to my septum and blocking air flow and can probably be reduced in size in order to clear an air passage. Dr. Ostrom disagreed with both that diagnosis as well as what I actually said that I physically feel in my own body and was extremely dismissive and uncaring about my agony and concerns. I am mostly astounded that Dr. Ostrom claims to have any experience in FFS. Keep in mind, I've been researching this for years and ended up going to Argentina for the right surgeon after never having heard of Dr. Ostrom who is less than a mile from my house. Please, if you're looking for FFS, do your research and find an experienced and known surgeon. Updated on 27 Apr 2023: This morning I went to see Dr. Chen at Banner Health in Tucson and had a much more thorough, thoughtful and kind examination with a completley different prognosis than Dr. Ostrom. Dr. Ostrom did almost nothing to actually look in my nose and try to figure out the problem but rather made incorrect assumptions and even suggested that the only solution might be a certain surgery in six more months that would entail taking part of my rib to graft into my nasal structure. Dr. Chen informed me that he would definitely not recommend that procedure for me. For one, I'm over 50 which means they would have to use donated rib cartilage. However; a total revision like this is a much bigger procedure than he would recommend. What he did recommend was shaving down a turbinate as well as a bone spur in my left nostril which both seem to be blocking air flow, a much simpler procedure and one that can be done in two moths. The contrast between doctors and ability to asses and work with a patient is absolutely astounding. I would absolutely warn anyone to stay away from Dr. Ostrom for any concerns or needs regarding facial feminization surgery.
