My answer would be the patient is having some type of inflammation. It can be from the sutures used during the case or inflammation from the surgery itself.
I do not have surgical reports to show the technique used i.e. whether cartilage was removed or just scored or just sutures placed which can cause an inflammatory reaction.
I recommend following up with the surgeon who performed the operation or get a second opinion. The new physician will need details on the operative report from the otoplasty.
