I am 28 years old and have long been neglecting my already imperfect skin. A few months ago, I began visiting a local (Manhattan) dermatologist for monthly glycolic peels, and she finally suggested that my skin would benefit from a light micro laser peel. I had a 4 micron micro laser peel 24 hours ago, and I can already see improvement in my skin tone and texture. The recovery has been extremely easy - I had some redness and minor burning yesterday, as well as a light pattern of small circles seemingly left in my skin wherever the laser hit. However, all of these issues were cleared up by this morning, and all I have now is a slight feeling of tightness on my face. I am very pleased and will likely do one more 4 micron peel in 7 or 8 weeks. Updated on 28 Apr 2015:
Thank you very much for your question. Hyper-pigmentation varies from patient to patient depending on skin tone. Typically patients with darker skin do pigment darker and for longer periods of time. The combination of hydroquinone, laser treatment, and retinols can be used to tackle this issue. It’s important to consult with a Board Certified Dermatologist if you have further questions.
