I have wanted a tummy tuck for years. I was not one of those "snap back" women who had a flat tummy a week after delivery. I also gained weight over the years. I did focus on working out 2-3 times/week for about 1 year prior to surgery to ensure I would have the best result. Working out for an extended amount of time prior to surgery is key! My recovery was not as bad as I expected either. I was VERY sore but pretty much back to normal activities in 2 weeks. I was cleared to go back to the gym after 6-8 weeks. I'm feeling great and I look great too!! I could not be happier with my results. Updated on 1 Dec 2018: Dr. Partridge performed my tummy tuck three years ago. It was a wonderful experience. I took three weeks off from work but I could’ve gone back after two. My results were excellent! I did have tiny dog ears on either side of my incision which she took care of in the office at no charge. My scar is light and thin and my stomach is flat. If you’re thinking about a tummy tuck I have a few recommendations. If you don’t exercise, I suggest you start prior to the procedure. I started exercising and losing weight through diet a year beforehand. You will need to exercise regularly and watch your weigh indefinitely if you want to maintain your results. Also, using a scar treatment is a good idea particularly if you are African American like myself as we have a tendency to have darker, thicker scars. I used a product called Embrace which worked wonders. I continue to have some abdominal numbness which is slowly improving. I think some numbness is going to be permanent. I can deal with that!!
Cool sculpting was a great experience, didn't hurt. I just thought the price of it was very expensive. Would have loved to go again, but can't afford it. They told me I might need more than one treatment. The office where I went was so nice and comfortable they treated me life family. Would recommend Dr. Joanne Partridge to anyone, she was so nice. This reviewer received a gift card from RealSelf in exchange for their review.
Muscle separation is common after weight loss or childbirth and is easily corrected during a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty. During this procedure we actually suture the muscles back together then trim off the excess skin, hiding the scars around the belly button and down low in the bikini line. Scheduling a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon is the best way to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure.
