This particular adhesive has long been used to treat variety of vascular conditions with excellent safety profile. But one should consider other options (such as Radiofrequency or laser ablation) if not comfortable with possible complications.

The FDA approved a new varicose vein treatment that's basically an adhesive that seals affected veins. Read that it's a permanent solution, but what else do can one need to know about it and when will it be available? Is this the best varicose vein treatment on the market? And is it dangerous at all? The fact that it is an "adhesive" scares me a little...

Venaseal is nonthermal ablation technique of saphenous veins only !!! One thing I would like to add is that you will benefit from consultation with an experienced and properly trained provider for your leg. You will most likely have venous insufficiency and may require thermal ablations of saphenous veins first !!

Or is there a better more affordable treatment for spider veins? They all seem to cost so much. I have horrible legs.

Please consult a properly trained provider and have US evaluation for proper treatment. US will show that you may need ablation of saphenous veins first then have phlebectomy or sclerotherapy.

I am 27 years old and I have had 2 Phlebectomys the first was done in November 2014 and the second was done in May 2015. My vein is getting to the point it's unbearable to stand at times again (at least once a day) and pops out so much so I'm wanting to get another treatment as soon as possible. My question is if this treatment is the best available or perhaps I should see another doctor. I'm curious about VenaSeal since phlebectomys have failed me twice so close together.

Venous insufficiency is a progressive disease and will cause your symptoms and appearance worse over time. The rate of progression is unpredictable bur certainly worse when you need to stand for long time. You can certainly wear medical grade compression stockings to relieve symptoms somewhat.

The technical success rate of thermal ablation procedures is roughly 95%. That means previously ablated saphenous veins will re-open 5% of the time even with experienced provider and will require an additional procedure. It certainly is a "retreat" but should not be considered as a free "retreat".

Hello, I had laser ablation on my left leg of the great saphenous vein up high where it meets the deep vein. A 3 month post op showed reflux and I had pain. It was retreated with the radio frequency technique yesterday. Vein size was 6mm if I’m remembering correctly. The right leg had the same vein treated with RF from the get go and closed I guess ok- it was 10mm. My question is: should I ask the doctor to count the second treatment on my left leg as a retreat and not charge me? Thank you.

Green veins on the back of left calf are not normal but commonly seen. I do recommend getting an exam to evaluate for venous insufficiency.

I recently noticed there are visible green veins on my left calf. Are these green veins normal? What are they? I'm a 27 year-old woman (BMI 18.8), and I don't have any known health conditions. I don't drink or smoke and exercise regularly, but I have a desk job.

There is no down time after thermal ablation and/or varicose vein removal (phlebectomy) but may need days to weeks (months at times) for "bruising", "numbness" and some other minor issues.

The best treatment for sclerotherapy really depends on severity. Many times you only need one session with a follow up. But it may require multiple sessions.
