I got my speed braces put on today. This is the second time I've worn braces. The first time I wore them 23 years ago for two years, but did not understand the importance of retainers, so my teeth gradually shifted back to their current sorry state. I'm now 40 years old and paying for this round myself. Because I have so much crowding, i am not a good candidate for Invisalign, so we are doing metal. New braces are much smaller and more comfortable than they used to be. The orthodontist says I will need them 18 months. I will present my next photo at appointment #2 in March.
My suggestion is to go back and visit your orthodontist as soon as possible. You have just invested a lot of your time and money into having a beautiful smile. The best way to protect your investment, is wearing a removable retainer every night. I tell my patients "night time for a lifetime".
Yes, most offices do offer payment plans. The three most popular plans are: 1. In office financing - This is where you would pay the office monthly. Usually the office will offer zero interest (this would be something you would want to ask at the time of your consultation).2. Payment in full - If you are looking for an additional discount, this could be the best method of payment for you. Some offices can offer between 3% to 8% off your treatment plan.3. 3rd party financing - Some patients choose to go this route when they want to have lower monthly payments that are stretched out over a longer period of time. However, make sure you understand the terms and conditions of the plan before you commit or you could be paying a lot more in the long run.
