Can I go skydiving safely with telogen effluvium? Is there any possibility that some of my telogen hair will fly off? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

If you have been told you have Telogen Effluvium and are losing hair, it is best to find the source of the stress and treat or remove it.  Unless the skydiving is giving you additional stress, it should be fine to do it.

850 grafts FUE. Day 3. Worried it’s not enough density. (Photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

On an initial hair transplant you can hope to obtain 40 % density.  After the hair grows out fully (at about one year), and if you are not satisfied you may always return for a second round to increase the density. Of course, hair shaft thickness, waviness of hair and hair to skin contrast also play a role in the appearance of fullness of ones transplanted hair.

When should I start to use Minoxodil again after a hair transplant (FUE), after how many days since surgery?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

After an FUE, we recommend you do not apply minoxidil until all the crusts are gone...perhaps 7-10 days (depending on how fast you heal).

I had done my FUE surgery 4 weeks ago, can I cut or trim my transplant area?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

At 4 weeks time after an FUE you may certainly resume all activities.  More specifically, we suggest you wait until after the first week to trim your hair. As for coloring, wait until all scabs are gone...perhaps at 10 days and beyond.

I have a small bald spot on the side of my head. Wanted to know if it was possible for hair to grow there? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Given that you have had this dime sized spot on your scalp since birth chances are favorable that it could accept and grow hair.  It would be best to see a hair transplant physician to discuss the possibility of a hair transplant into the spot.

Density issue at 6 months post FUE. Advice? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

You are now 6 months post FUE.  At about 8 months you should have near 80% growth and full growth at around 12 months.  Continue with minoxidil and give it more time.  The hairline, front, top and crown in total is a large area to cover. That being said, your surgeon should have discussed with you what density to expect given the large area on the scalp to cover.

How well will Finasteride work? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

The idea behind finasteride is to help you keep the hair you have.  It is a good sign that at 6 month you feel you are seeing some benefit.  You should continue on it.

4 months and 20 days post op, need advise on my hair transplant. Not seeing a lot of growth from last few weeks. (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

At 4 months time post FUE you are just going to see some sprouting.  Over the next several months after that you will see significant growth.  You need to give it more time. Full growth isn't until 12 months.

I’m 22 years old and have noticed dramatic thinning of my hair, what is wrong?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

You should see a hair restoration physician to review your history and your family's history of hair loss. Also, review your labs and make sure that all the usual suspects related to hair loss were checked. Lastly, an in person exam including a microscopic evaluation and even a biopsy (if necessary).  Once we have a diagnosis we can discuss treatment.

Second FUE: how long after? I had a FUE not many months ago but I am not very satisfied.

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

If you are planning on having a second transplant into the same recipient area it would be best to wait at least 6 months in order to see the growth.  Then, any area with sparse growth may be fine tuned during  a second transplant.  The reason you have to wait for at least 6 months is because by that time you should be able to evaluate for growth from your first transplant. Performing a transplant any sooner may risk putting new grafts on top of an area that is supposed to grow, but isn't visible yet.
