Can a new crown be colored matched to my surrounding teeth? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It is sometimes very difficult to match a single front crown and you should seek the advice of one of the following:

1. a Dentist who is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry

2. there is a Dental lab named DaVinci Dental lab that has a list of doctors all over the world they work with and they do tremendous job of matching shade with the right dentist.

What ever you do, ask the dentist if he has a lab tech come to the office, does he send patients to the lab or does he/she use photography to communicate shade.

You will not match your teeth with just a shade guide alone, but it is possible to get a crown to blend with the rest of your teeth

good luck

Cap keeps on going loose. Any chances of infection? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

I am sorry to hear about your situation.  From the pictures, the inflammation appears to be from the crown itself and possible cement.  the x-ray shows that the crown is not seating all the way on the implant.  Leaving it off for a couple of weeks, should not be a problem, but tissue healing may cause interference with the crown.  I would try to get to your Dentist sooner and have a discussion about a crown that can be a long term solution.

Best of luck

Can Botox or fillers help with eye asymmetry? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for your question an picture:

It seems that the asymmetry is a resulting a slight ptosis of the left eyelid.  The eye brows seem to be symmetrical from your picture, but lateral views would be helpful.  Given that botox relaxes muscles, it can cause a ptosis, but not correct one.

I would recommend consulting with an occuloplastic surgeon about your eyelids.

Thank you and best of luck

Dentist is saying my only option is extracting - crown will fail? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Well I am not sure that a crown would fall off in 2 months, but let's compare your options.  If you would like to save the tooth, you would need a root canal and then a procedure known as crown lengthening.  This is a surgical procedure to expose the margin of tooth that is at the level of bone.  It would need to be done to get a good margin for a crown.  The procedure does remove bone, so it will compromise the tooth next door.  In addition to all that, you would then need something called a post and core and then a crown.  The prognosis is not ideal.

The other option is extracting the tooth and placing an implant.  This is actually a simpler procedure for this tooth and it will not affect the tooth next door.  The prognosis of this procedure is excellent and the costs are probably somewhat similar.

In the final analysis, I would say from what is evident in the x-ray, the implant is the best procedure

Good Luck

Will Botox help even my lips? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Lip enhancement using botox and fillers can help modify the current situation.  Before that I would recommend consulting with a board cerified plastic surgeon or Oral Surgeon on what possibly could be done to correct the damage done by the surgery itself.  The best recommendation would be the Oral Surgery or Plastics department of a major hospital in the area.

Good luck

Braces vs. Crowns/Veneers. (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

The big question is what you would like to accomplish.  If it is just positioning, then braces may be best since it does not involve cutting teeth.  If there are more concerns, then crowns may be best.  My recommendation is to consult with an orthodontist and see if they can accomplish what you would like to do.   Then you have all the information and can make an educated decision.

Will I be able to keep my lips closed? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

I understand your concern and when you have treatment done by a specialist or suitably trained General Dentist, there is always consideration of not only tooth position, smile, but also soft tissue, such as the lips.

Smile Direct to the best of my knowledge only covers the position of the teeth.  In addition, you are started with a moderate malocclusion and doing treatment on yourself can lead to permanent damage

I would talk to your dentist or an Orthodontist to see where you are at and determine if maybe you should consider professional treatment.

Can invisalign work in my case in order to fix the black triangle? Is IPR necessary in my case? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

invisalign will not correct the black triangle and I would not do IPR on your front teeth.  This would destroy the natural emergence of the tooth.  All is not lost though.  There are 2 ways with possibly dealing with this.  The least intrusive is using fillers to fill the papilla.  If done correctly, it can result in a nice result.  May need to be done a few times, but if there is no underlying bone problems, it will gradually rebuild the papilla.

The other way is to have a specialist (periodontist) evaluate the area for possible esthetic periodontal surgery.

Good luck

My doctor wants to inject my parotid gland with 2500 units of Botox. Procedure?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

You do not mention why your doctor wants to inject 2500 units into your parotid gland, but it is a lot of botox at one time and I would definitely get a second opinion before doing anything!!

What's best: E.max crown, Empress, or even PFM crown for severely discolored anterior tooth?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Of course it depends on how discolored the tooth is.  With the right preparation, an emax crown can be very effective in masking discoloration.  The other option would be an anterior zirconia crown.  These can be shaded well and have a natural translucency.  They are very effective in areas where the only option was porcelain fused to Gold.

As always, make sure you get a consult with a dentist well versed in these procedures.

Good Luck

46 Year Old, Very Soft Teeth, Very Much Needed - Arlington, MA

I have had 4 upper implants done, bone grafting and a sinus lift all for $9,000.00. This included removing 9 upper teeth. This was done at Gentle Dental in Arlington Ma. My insurance covered $2,000.00 worth because of the removal of teeth was surgery. This is waaaay cheaper than clear choice and I am very happy with the outcome.
