I first saw Dr. Applebaum for my severe acne and mild eczema about one year ago, and I can say that he did a wonderful job in improving my appearance!! Even though some treatments did not work at first, he was always willing to go the extra mile in order for me to reach my end goal, which was clearing the breakouts on my face and back and the eczema on my chest. He and the staff at Advanced Dermatology are extremely friendly, courteous and compassionate.
I love this doctor! I first started going to Dr. Applebaum to treat my DSAP, which is a pre-cancerous skin condition. I then realized his office did much more than basic dermatology. I tried him for Fraxel, Botox and lip filler too. He does a great job and will be honest to tell you what you DONT'T need and what will work for your goals. He even got rid of age spots on my hands!! My DSAP never got treated as well as he treated either. My skin hasn't looked as good as it does until I started seeing Dr. Applebaum! He's such a pleasant person too. I'm so happy with him as a doctor!!
I saw Dr. Applebaum recently for some Botox and I loved the treatment. He was very professional and my appointment was merely a 20 minute wait. He discussed many options of rejuvenation that were affordable to me, and now I am scheduled to have Ulthera with him before the holidays. He wasn't pushy at all, on the contrary, I was the one who considered other options after reading the brochures in the room. I read some of the negative reviews about this office, and I am glad that I made my own decision. Although it seems like a busy office, it was worth the wait to see him. I loved his bedside manner and I would highly recommend him to all!
I was drawn to this procedure after watching it on the Dr. Oz show. I was sold when the woman it was demonstrated on said it wasn't uncomfortable. I had it done this past Friday and it was nothing like she described. My dermatologist applied numbing cream to my cheeks and neck and let it sit for over an hour. He offered me a Vicodin pain killer as well, but I declined. A nurse stood by with a hose blowing cold air on my face as he started to go over the areas half inch by half inch. The ultrasound felt like firecrackers exploding under my skin; the intensity varied but it could never be described as being uncomfortable. When he fired it over my jaw line, the pain felt like a tooth in need of a root canal. The fan was really just a distraction and I told them to turn it off. He went over the treatment areas twice. Knowing the level of pain I'd have to go through again made my entire body tense and shiver. Afterward, the areas of my face were super red and very hot. They gave me a mild cortisone foam to apply and an ice pack. The redness went away completely after 2 hours, and you would never know I had anything done. But the feeling of being bruised under my skin remains. This procedure really should have been done under a local anesthesia. No one should have to endure this much pain. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Was all this worth it? I saw an immediate difference which I hope continues through the 4-month recuperation period. Updated on 14 Jun 2011: Update as of June 2011: It's been 7 months and the treatment has all but worn off. What a disappointment! My sagging neck skin is back to pre-treatment status. Looking back, it was an excruciating, expensive and VERY short term fix... and if given the option, not one that I would repeat. Sorry for the bad but truthful news. Updated on 17 Jul 2011: Lots of questions regarding whether I would repeat the procedure. Only if it was offered free every 4 months and they knocked me out! There has to be a better way short of surgery.
I wanted to treat my many nose and cheek veins and as I got older my rosacea seemed to be getting worst. Everywhere I turned V-beam seemed to be the state of the art. Not far from where I live in Queens NY there is a highly rated clinic so I went there. 8 somewhat painful treatments - no discounts for packages, I was told, its quite bad - you will need 5 or 6 treatments and then we will see @ over $400 a pop (It may have been more) Each treatment more harsh then the last and each left me with embarrassing purpura that lasted 9 to 13 days each time. The overall Rosacea did get better and the veins got somewhat better as well, but not for long and within a year or so they were back. I was frustrated and I was not about to drop another 4k in this treatment. About a month ago I noticed the nose veins becoming so prominent that even my wife made a comment about the purplish color. I finally found info on Vein-wave and Vein-goth and was surprised how difficult it was to locate a clinic in the Queens and Nassau area. I didn't want to travel to one in Brooklyn and was about to give up and go to the city when I found North Shore Vein Center in Lake Success by accident. Its about 15 minutes from my home on Queens and it felt like a large Hospital setting when I got there. Much better than the little cramp spots I have seen operating these type of laser or cosmetic businesses. I filled out 2 short forms, Dr Schwartz came and spoke to me and was somewhat embarrassed to find out that I had 8 or 9 treatments with V-beam less than 2 years ago. He explained to me that he also does Vbeam, but not for my type of condition. He said that Vein Goth will give me the results in one treatment that V beam couldn't give me in 10. I'll write about my positive experience with V goth tomorrow when my redness has gone. To all the readers with veins on the nose, cheeks or anywhere on the face - please, don't settle for V beam when the superior treatment for immediate results is either Veinwave or VeinGoth. I'll write a review within the next few days with before and after photos. I'll ask the clinic to get me copies of the before photos so i can upload them. All I can say I is that while I'm still a bit red a few hours after it was immediately obvious that the veins were not visible any longer after a 20 minute treatment.
