Hair Loss 2 Months After Surgery Normal?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Yes, it's possible to experience hairloss after a facelift but I would expect the areas of loss to be near the healing scars.  One may expect that the hair would return but it may also represent permanent loss.  Now, if the hair loss is outside of the area of the facelift, this could represent an unrelated medical problem as the cause for the hair loss.

Greetings.  Your photos and comments are very interesting.  I suspect that your concerns are probably most related to postoperative swellling.  Now with that said, I think you should followup with your surgeon and make sure it is not caused by something else such as a resolving hematoma, suture contracture or otherwise.

Facelift swelling and recovery time can be very significant concerns for any patient.  What is of utmost importance, I believe, is during consultation provide a realistic description of what the recovery will be like.  I like to do this by describing periods of recovery such as the immediate postoperative week when the patient is dealing with issues such as pain, wound care and sutures.  The period of time after the sutures are removed and the following weeks are an anxious time for any patient for they would like to resume more and more activities without the fear of ruining or damaging a result.  Good communication between the patient and the surgeon and staff is of paramount importance so that concerns and questions are quickly and adequately addressed.  Usually after 3-4 weeks after a facelift the patient can resume most if not all activities with little problem.  I hope this helps to answer your question.

Thanks for the opportunity to address your concern.  Rarely does one hear that a facelift is too tight.  However, in your case it seems that it is not the cosmetic result that is the concern but ongoing issues such as pain and discomfort.  Since you are about one year out I would  not expect any significant changes in your condition.  Of interest are some of your symptoms including numbness.  This may indicate a nerve injury and I agree with some of the other responders to your question that a nerve block may be in order.  In addition, there are medications which may help with your symptoms.

Facelift Using Stem Cells?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Greetings,  I would be very cautious to any claims about the superiority of stem cells used for facelifting and rejuvenation.  Although there may be some benefit, stem cell grafting will probably still not have the same impact that surgical face lifting can provide.  The basic science behind stem cell grafting has not been worked out but I do hope hope for the future that it will become a regularily implemented medical treatment.

Greetings, Marionette folds can be difficult to treat and may require more than just a lift.  I would recommend giving the fillers a try again and even moving on to fat grafting as a means to add more volume and longevity.  In addition, I would utilize fractional laser techniques to help tighten the skin in this area.  Finally, I would consider excision only as a last option for as you already appreciate, may lead to visual scarring.

Earlobe Repair Cost with Hole of 3mm

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Earlobe repair, reduction, and piercing are all similar in that they attempt to change the appearance of the lobule and piercing may necessitate the need for future treatment.

  1. Repair - generally, I cut out the defect and adjacent borders so as to close and approximate normal tissue to normal tissue.  This goes on to heal as a straight line with little fuss.
  2. Reduction - similar to repair but instead of closing a hole or gap, I remove tissue at the junction of the ear and skin of the face.  This is typically performed at the time of a facelifting procedure.
  3. Piercing - Well, after you repair, won't you want to proceed with piercing?  I advise my patients to wait 2 -3 months so as to allow the area to heal so as not to run into any future problems such as stretching

I agree with Dr. Ishoo.  It can be helpful and it's mechanism of effect is both heating and mechanical disruption of the glands.  However, since the advent of therapeutic Botox for the treatment of hyperhydrosis, I prefer injections over surgery until the patient either stops responding to the injections or it is no longer covered by their insurance as a medically covered treatment.

Before proceeding with any surgical treatment for acne scars it is extremely important to have covered all other possible bases of treatment.

1)  Is the acne condition under control or are you still prone to breakouts and cysts?

2)  Are you using antibiotics, topical or oral?

3)  Is the acne hormone regulated?

4)  Have you tried Accutane?

5)  What kind of skin care and exfoliants are currently utlized?

6)  Any laser treatments tried, BBL, fractional laser, ablation, etc?

Only after all these issues have been addressed would I proceed with scar revision.  "Punch" techniques are good for pock marks and small defects but can be disappointing with larger areas.  Larger excisions can be risking with the resultant scarring.  Often, less is more......

Breast Lift versus Breast Augmentation

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Ask yourself if are happy with the size of your bra or would you prefer a larger cup size.  If you want a larger cup size then you will need an implant or augmentation.  If you are ok with the size but would prefer to be a bit more perky, then a lift might be just right for you.  A lift is going to do a lot for drooping or sagging of the breast and an implant is going to add fullness and volume to the breast.

Decisions Decisions!

I will be 40 in Feb. I am 5’6” and 145lbs. I breastfed all 4 of my kiddos and on top of that lost over 70lbs. I am very active and love working out. I’ve always wanted to fix the girls and finally decided it was time. Pre surgery I was a 34/36 C’ish. But always had the gap at the top. I spent many weeks studying up on Doctors and met with 3 diff ones. The first one I really liked and was going to just Schedule and go with him. But decided I need to check out other doctors to compare. So I went to the next one.. I was a little hesitant because he does his procedures under local anesthesia and your awake for the procedure. When I first read that I was like, there’s no way I could do that! Nope nope nope! But the more I read on and realized why... I decided it would be worth checking him out. I really like him but wanted to visit with the final doc before I made my decision. Both the 1st and 3rd docs came s referrals from friends that had them. I wasn’t really impressed with the third one which made my decision a lot easier. Updated on 15 Oct 2017: I decided to go with Dr. Wire for many reasons. The first one, he is very passionate and has a great bedside manner. And not just him... his whole team. Second reason, because he does his procedures under local anesthesia. I get so sick from general and thought if I could eliminate that part, why it give it a try. I was so excited to call and make the appt. I could barely stand the wait! Lol so the wait was in and I counted my sleeps until the big day! I wasn’t sure how to tell my kids. As I have 2 teenage boys.. lol I chose to not tell them right away. Which back fired. The morning of the procedure, the kids saw a reminder on grandmas computer pop up.. oops. So the questions started coming lol Updated on 15 Oct 2017: I wasn’t nervous at all. The team made us feel very comfortable and answered all our questions. They put a sheet up so I couldn’t see what they were doing, but they talk you thru the whole process. The entire procedure took about an hour. We did the Natrelle inspira textured round size 560cc. I’m so excited how they are turning out! I’m very pleased and can’t wait to go shopping in a few weeks!

39 Yo, 2 Kids, 140lbs, 5'0-600 Cc Textured Round - Chaska, MN

I had my heart set to go bigger after seeing pictures and videos on YouTube. Initially my doctor suggested 500cc but I insisted on going as big as they can fit it in the pocket. When they put in the 550cc sizer and felt comfortable, that's when I said let's go 600 and get it over with. I am very happy.

Vanquish -Chaska, MN

I was starting to have the "menopause weight gain" around my mid section. I really didn't need a tummy tuck or liposuction, I watch my diet and exercise but I was not happy with the "poochie" area of my tummy. I heard about Vanquish, radio frequency treatment, with no downtime, and decided to give it a try. I had 6 sessions about a week apart and I am so impressed at the contouring and reduction in inches around my waist. My tummy is flatter and the skin is tighter, I love the result. I have shown my friends and they are impressed with my result and be at Dr. Wire's office soon. What an awesome new technology

I Would Do It Again - Chaska, MN

Having a neck lift from Dr. Wire in Chaska, MN was by far one of the best things I have ever done. It was an easier process than I expected. I had local anesthesia and the recovery period back to work was about 5-7 days. I am now 8 weeks out and feel very normal except for tightness under my chin and numbness on my ears. It looks very natural and people can not tell that I had a lift. I feel like my younger self. He had accupuncture done on me before the procedure. It made me relaxed. He takes a holistic approach to the procedure. They had me take tissue healing supplements two weeks prior to the procedure and two weeks after. He and his staff were wonderful. They clarified my expectations. I also had a little liposuction under my neck and profractional laser on my lower eyes. The results are phenomenal, I would recommend him to everyone. I would have done it sooner had I known it would turn out so well.

Greatful, Wonderful Experience. - Chaska, MN

I had my first breast Augmentation on April in 2007. I had a really good experience, My Dr was very professional and his staff was really helpful. I had two kids after, which made my breast saggy and smaller. So I decided to have my old Breast Implants removed and I went bigger in December 2011. My Doc did a wonderful job:)) Thank u so much for giving me back my self confidence. I also had Botox done for the first time, he let me try it for free. Wow I would recommend him to anyone. I only need a tummy tuck to complete my mommy makeover and I'm going back to my Plastic Surgeon. He know what he is doing and has a lot of experience.

I Finally Look As Young As I Feel! - Minneapolis, MN

Ever since I hit 50 I have felt like the life was being sucked out of my face. I was using more makeup with worse results until I got to Lifestyle Lift! They made about 15 years melt away! I had the lift, the under chin surgery & full laser. Hearing & knowing what's going on was a little tense & the laser is quite painful while it's being performed (even though you get lots of local anesthetic). The first 3 days are the hardest, plan on watching movies, reading & sleeping upright. However, after about 2 weeks I could go anywhere & know that no one would see any sign of surgery or laser with minimal makeup. It took about 6 weeks to really heal because of so much done & I also had a few stitches that kept popping up (just get them clipped off) but it's worth it! After 8 weeks I have only a little numbness left & with massaging the "surgery folds" behind my ears are dissapearing. I once again can go without makeup & still look good especially because the laser brought that "youthful glow" back which I absolutely LOVE!!! If some larger lobes or folds don't go away the doctor said he'd take care of them in about 6 months. The Dr & staff have been awesome! I am so glad I had it done.

My Results Were Minimal.

I worked with the staff and not with Dr. Wire directly. In fact, I never met him. My package consisted of 5 treatments each of the Sculptme and Exilis. I was repeatedly assured by Marina and Lauren that I would be delighted with the results, but I may not see them until 6-8 weeks after the treatments ended. The results are minimal to nothing. The office closed and there is no recourse. Dr. Wire was kind enough to call and discuss it but only offered an apology. Over the course of my treatments, the staff was gracious and always made me feel comfortable, unfortunately, they were better salespeople.
