So far I have went to my consult on 15 Aug 2017. The dental assistant was phenomenal she explained things to the "T". She showed me the examples of the invisalign align and the whole "9"..She also did my digital impressions, took before pictures and showed me an example of how great my smile would be at the end of my treatment. After going over things with her I was able to meet the Ortho, who will be overseeing my treatment. He was extremely kind and personable. Ensured me that he was very optimistic about my outcome after treatment. Ensured me that I would be estatic with my results. Answered any questions I had and explained everything from his point of view. I have to say, so far I am extremely pleased with the staff at this office and I can't wait to get started with my treatment. I should be getting the call any day now, that my aligners have arrived. I will update you all when I get started. ;)
In my opinion you will get a better look if you do more veneers. I think I would get a wax up with 8 veneers to see if you can make the space smaller by changing the size of 8 teeth. I have found when doing more teeth you can make all the teeth close to the "golden proportion". You can look online what "the golden proportion" is. It basically a set of measurements, of the size of the teeth , which we as humans find pleasing to the eye. When you have teeth out of proportion our eyes catch it. However, more veneers cost more money. If you only want to do this right, you may want to make the investment? You current dentist was probably trying to be conservative. Although it is good to be conservative, sometimes it may not give us the result we are looking for. Ask your dentist to get another wax up with 8 teeth?? That way you can see what it looks like before you prepare the teeth. You can close the space my adding more porcelain to the sides of more teeth, and not having to large ones and two small ones. Another option is you can do limited orthodontics to close the space or move the teeth to a better position, and then do the veneers.
The question is: Do you like them?? If you like them then they are good. It is hard to tell with these pictures. There are limitations with composite veneers. You will probably have to redo them eventually as composite picks up stain. I think your dentist did a good job. When you are not a poor student, and you need to redo them, you may want to think about porcelain veneers as it will save you money in the long run. Just maintain them the best you can and they should last a long time .
It depends what you are calling the bottom of the tooth?? It would be much easier to tell what you are talking about if you enclosed a picture. What you may be calling the bottom, someone else may call the top??? If you are talking about the biting surface, then you maybe be able to see the post or possibly feel the post. You need to remember this is a temporary phase, and you should not wait too long to get the crown on the tooth. I have seen many teeth fracture beyond repair when no crown was placed after a period of time.
The question why did it need a post?? Many times when teeth are worked on multiple times they become brittle. It could also be that the structural integrity was compromised due to a large amount of dentistry on a single tooth. You have to realize that dentists are trying to save your teeth. I would say unfortunately sometimes this happens.
This is a tough one! Many times the root discolours after a root canal. Does the discolouration show through at the gumline, or is it in the main body of the tooth?? Can you post any pictures? Is it the porcelain does not match the other teeth?? Is it an improvement from what was there before?? I would suggest that you speak to your dentist, and inform him that you are not happy with your current veneer, and see what can be done.
