I am a 64 year old man. I am a bit overweight but not fat or obese. Recently I lost 20 pounds but lost most of it from my belly and no disappeared from my double chin. So, I elected to have a Kybella treatment. I only did this after a consultation with a board certified dermatologist who was trained and experienced in administering cosmetic dermatology. The procedure was seamless. The doctor numbed my neck and infected two vials in about 40 injections of 1cc(?) each. I felt absolutely no pain whatsoever, just a couple of pricking sensations. He was attended my a technician who stood by with ice packs and kept them coming after the injections and sent me home with several. Afterwards I did get some minor bruising at some of the injection sites and a small bit of swelling. Both passed in a week or 10 days and during that time I wore turtle neck sweaters or scarves if I had to be in social situations. Cover up makeup helped disguise the bruised a bit, but not much. Anyone who asked about my neck, I just said that I had a couple of neck cycsts causing me to snore a lot. No one asked any more questions. Most people are so concerned about themselves that your appearance makes little difference to them. It's been a month and I see little difference, but it's too soon. All the literature says it takes weeks and months to see any improvement. My doctor wants to wait another 8 weeks before we decide if another treatment is necessary. Luckily, my doctor is so busy that he doesn't need to drum up business, hence I trust him. Bottom line, do not get this procedure with some sort of groupon or amazon discount coupon. There is a national shortage of dermatologists, and any office that has to offer major discounts is an office to avoid. They won't numb you because they are doing the procedure on the cheap. And do not get treatment at a dermatological office that doesn't have physicians or aestheticians trained in cosmetic dermatology. The office around the corner that mostly treats warts, eczema, STDs, and jock itch isn't the place to get this procedure. Remember, it's your FACE!
There are no contraindications for having Botox and caffeine. As a side note, when patients are going to have injectables (like Botox or filler) from me, I do recommend they eat before they have these procedures. Lessens the risk for feeling light-headed or fainting during/after the procedure.
