Since you had a vaginal laser treatment, it is not unusual to have some mild soreness for a couple of days. Most patients will also have a watery pink or slightly bloody discharge for 3-5 days after each treatment. During those 3-5 days you should not have anything in the vagina, ie, no sex, tampons, douching, baths, or pools. Always important to have a vaginal exam with a speculum (the same instrument used for your routine pap exam) to see if you may have any signs of a vaginal infection, etc, BEFORE each vaginal laser treatment. Any vaginal infections need to be treated and resolved before having another treatment. If you experience severe or persistent pain, you should contact your Provider.
Great question! Depending on the degree of the problem being treated, some patients need more treatments than the usual protocol of 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart. As you did, most patients will notice a definite improvements after the 3rd treatment. The healing and remodeling of the tissue after each treatment continues for upto 3 months, so now at 4 months from your last treatment is just right to go in for another treatment. Each patient has to decide if they have reached their desired results by the end of the course. Most patients reach their goal after the 3rd treatment, but others may need a few more treatments to reach the desired results. Of course, it is important to discuss with your Doctor before starting the treatments, your expectations to make sure they are attainable. Once you reach the desired results, most patients only need one treatment a year later to maintain those results. Most patients do not need to have another series of 3 treatments a year later.
