The best labiaplasty technique depends on your individual anatomy, the amount and location of excess tissue, and your cosmetic goals. Both wedge and trim labiaplasty can preserve normal sensation when performed properly by an experienced surgeon. If preserving the natural labial edge, pigmentation, and contour is especially important to you, a wedge labiaplasty may be preferred. It requires special training and meticulous surgical technique.Risks are bleeding, infection, hematoma formation, wound separation, blotched labiaplasty and disfigurement if not done with a properly trained surgeon with experience in these procedures. Nerve damage is a rare complication that can happen if someone is not familiar with vulvar anatomy. I have never seen this happen since we do not touch the clitoris even if we do clitoral hood reduction. If you choose a well trained Cosmetic Gynecologist or a plastic surgeon specialized in cosmetic gynecology and has knowledge of the different techniques of Labiaplasty, you should be fine and it is definitely worth it. Do not go to a regular gynecologist or regular plastic surgeon as they do not have proper training in these procedures.
