I had an amazing experience with Dr. Pistone. From the initial consultation, to the procedure, the follow up and ultimately the fantastic results!! I had a couple of strip surgeries in my mid to late 20’s and had continued to lose hair over the next 20 years. I was in desperate need of some filling in throughout the entire crown and refining of the existing hair line as well. Dr. Pistone had determined that the NeoGraft procedure would be my best option and he knew exactly how many grafts would be required to get a nice result. I was very comfortable throughout the entire procedure. The doctor has an excellent bedside manner and you can tell he truly cares about getting you the best result possible. That is the mark of a true artist and that is what Dr. Pistone is when it comes to hair restoration. A year later and my confidence has been significantly restored. I feel much better about myself and would highly recommend Dr. Pistone to anyone suffering from hair loss.
I suffer from embarrassing Rosacea and have been treated by other dermatologist's who charge in upwards of $700 per treatment. I need treatment a few times a year or I start to look like a tomato. He is the first doctor who gave me affordable options (insurance won't cover treatment) to keep my condition under control. I have never had a clear face because I couldn't afford the outrageous prices. I am looking forward to continuing treatments with him and the Vbeam. Finally, I will enjoy a normal looking complexion and be able to keep it under control because his fee is reasonable. I will also be able to go more often! If you need treatments RUN to him and tell your friends. He deserves to be recognized because he really helps people with this condition find quality treatment that is affordable. Thanks Dr. P!! I will tell all my friends and family about you! I am the first member of your Rosacea Club! I will post before and after results here soon.
Dr. Pistone is very professional and I had a very pleasurable experience with his office. He is honest and will tell you exactly what he thinks you need, instead of pushing unnecessary procedures. I had Botox treatment and he was very gentle and I experienced no pain, swelling or bruising. He is the best
I just got the Miradry procedure done on 5/3/2016 that's why I'm not sure if it was worth it yet, but I just felt the need to let people know what I learned. After having a few consultations I realized that not every place did the tumescent numbing technique. Some places had an aesthetician performing the procedure others had a registered nurse, or Nurse practitioner. What made me decide to use Dr. Pistone was the fact that he was an experienced Doctor that performs the tumescent numbing technique. I'm glad I did. The procedure went very well. His assistant was so nice. She went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. I only had the procedure a couple days ago. I can say I have hardly any bruising, and the recovery has been fine. I'm not really sure what the results are yet. I'll write an update in a couple weeks. I just felt very comfortable with this Doctor and office. He was priced the same as the places with no Doctor & no tumescent numbing technique.
I have been researching hair restoration for about 10years and finally got to a point in life where I could afford it. We moved here to South Jersey in Aug '15 and I started researching local places from So. Jersey to Philly. I met some good doctors and good places but felt most assured by Dr Pistone. No consultation fee. Hair Restoration is his specialty and he does am the procedures himself with his in house team. I found too many others that fly "specialists" in to do the work. That way if you are unhappy, the Dr is off the hook. I had my procedure done at the end of Dec 15 and everything is happening exactly as they said it would. They took care of me well, and my follow up visits were scheduled so that I had plenty of time with Dr Pistone. I am very happy with my choice is Dr's and the office staff. If you don't know, the office staff performs half of the procedure so you need to get to know them too. The main reason I chose Dr Pistone is because he talked about the art of placing the hair. The angles, thickness and spacing to look natural. He spent a lot of time talking about the natural look and why some other hairlines look natural or unnatural depending on the doctor's skill.
I saw an ad for miradry and I was excited to learn more about it. I'm personally not an excessive sweater however working in the salon industry for 13 years my wardrobe is 97% black. On a daily basis I was trying to rub deodorant stains out of my clothes, the stains sometimes don't always disappear so with that being said a lot of ruined clothes. The treatment took about an hour and didn't even realize I was having anything done. It was painless. the Dr. uses a Tumescent technique and it was wonderful. The hours after treatment and into the entire next day,it is important to ice to reduce swelling. The results have been amazing, I'm very pleased. I have not worn deodorant since procedure and my clothes are not stripped with white lines.
I had a horrible result after my 2 transplants with Dr Pistone. After I waited a year for the grafts to completely grow, they were very pluggy, spaced out , growing in different directions, and the hairline was not even. I showed him how bad it looked and he decided to perform a "touch up" transplant again free of charge....however the second transplant resulted in a second separate and much wider and visible scar on the back of my head. On top of that, another year after the second transplant, my results still look terrible and completely obvious I had a botched hair transplant. I was only 21 when this nightmare began and have been living the past 14 years under a hat. A few years ago, because of how pluggy and poor the transplant was I decided it would be better to shave my head. I now have noticeable scarring and cobblestoning where the grafts were placed and two large god awful strip scars in the back of my head. Everyday that I go out in public or to work with no hat someone asks me what happened to my head. Its a never ending constant reminder of the worst mistake I have ever made. I brought these concerns up with Dr. Pistone but he just offered to cut another hunk of flesh from my scalp and try to put more hairs in. If it didn't work the first two times why would I give myself another huge scar and look even more like a freak? No thanks. It would however be nice of he offered to pay to get this fixed by a master surgeon like Dr. Umar that can remove my grafts and/or use body hair to place into my strip scars so I can cover up these scars without adding more visible scars...or at least fix the pluggy looking grafts to look more natural
At 6 months you should see reasonable growth, but not final density. Laser and Rogaine can help but adequate density should occur on it's own. I generally see my patients at 6 months to see where we are. A year is a long time to wait for results and it can be frustrating. I like to alleviate that anxiety by examining them and reassuring them they have 6 months to go.
Injections are always used first unless the area is extensive and aggressive with rapid hair loss. I have no problem giving IM Kenalog in severe AA but if the area is limited there is no reason to and I wouldn't do it.
I often use dutasteride when finasteride has failed. While it has similar side effects, it is sometimes more successful used only several times a week.
I would also recommend massaging coconut or olive oil over the crusts before bedtime and shampooing in the morning. Do not pick them off or the grafts will come out in clumps!
Just to be clear, no one knows, through verified research, exactly what PRP technique is best. So hair restoration continue to share results as we go along each year. Five cc should be enough to inject your entire scalp both subdermally and intradermally if properly performed. I generally use 5-10 cc depending on head size to do the entire scalp and allow the PRP to have a widespread thickening effect rather than target focused areas.
