Excellent Physician and very skilled. Hospital was top notch. Would recommend 10 out of 10. Everyone involved was very professional and my whole experience ran like clock work. Ungston is a veteran as well.
Dr. Ungson and his team are top notch. The hospital is small compared to most hospitals in the US, but it’s very clean and adequate. I was feeling anxious before surgery, but the few moments with the doctor prior to it really put my mind at ease! If you are considering weight loss surgery, this is the team you want for sure.
Through doing my research, booking the surgery and going through every step I had to before getting to Mexicali, I was excited to finally loose the excess weight on my body, but I don’t think I ever expected it to be so much. The results a year and a half after my surgery are results that I never thought I was capable of achieving. I am amazed! If you are having second thoughts, don’t. This is something that has changed my life, and I could not be happier.
I got this surgery done after my sister, who did it a few months back and in a different place. After seeing her results I felt motivated to go ahead and try it myself. The process felt easy, and recovery took no time. Now seeing my results, I am actually surprised they are even better than I expected. I’ve lost significantly more weight than my sister. I’m very happy I went with MBC rather than any other place
It was a pleasure to be Dr. Ungson and the staff at Mexicali Bariatric Center ’s patient. From the beginning all of my questions were answered, the staff was so helpful, and the hospital was clean. I am very thankful for the people who recommended dr Ungson to me, and I will gladly do the same for others.
Almater is one of the cleanest, most well-maintained I have ever been to, it is better than most I have been to in the US or anywhere else, which made all the traveling from far away definitely worth it. The people there were just as great. They were all warm and caring, making an extraordinary experience.
I had a particular health condition that I was worried about before the operation. The doctor, nurses and staff assured to me that everything was being handled carefully and that it’d turn out fine, and like they said, it was. In fact, it was better than fine, the results were unbelievable and I had no difficulties regarding my health.
Ever since I decided to have my surgery and contacted Mexicali Bariatric Center, Nina was incredibly fast in answering all my questions. She was always kind and honest and explained everything with patience. This was the first reason I decided for Mexicali Bariatric Center. I do not regret it. I’ve lost 80 lbs and have been feeling amazing. Thank you Nina, Karla, Yolanda, Doctor Campos an the rest of the team. You are the best.
One might think the aftermath of the surgery would come hand in hand with a long recovery. At least that’s what I thought before I went through mine. I was actually going back to my every day life in only a couple of days, feeling nothing but refreshed, and completely happy with life.
I have not yet had my surgery, but it is just around the corner and I am really looking forward to it. I have been in contact with a couple of people in mbc and they’ve been extremely helpful during the whole process. All of the booking, and resolving of any doubt I have has gone smoothly thanks to them. The next thing to come is meeting with dr Ungson. I’ve heard nothing but good things about him, so I’m sure it’ll go smoothly as well.
Hello! The DS is a very good option after a gastric sleeve. If you only have the DS portion done the weight loss will be slower, the restrictive part of the sleeve is what helps you lose weight faster. Some patients have the sleeve redon at the same time of converting to a DS. In your case you need to consider the hearturn you mention. Consult with your dr to see if the DS is the best option for you. You may have a hiatal hernia that needs to be repaired to fix the heartburn, the problem may be due to the excess weight, you may need to take a different PPI to help you control it if you are already taking one or start taking one, etc This are important considerations to determine if the DS is right for you. A persons with GERD for example, may need to convert to a gastric bypass instead to take care of both GERD and weight. In regards to what to look for the most important thing is to have surgery done with an experienced DS surgeon. The DS is the most complicated bariatric surgery so having someone that does them day in and day out will help you reduce your surgery risks greatly and will give you better results. Bes of luck with your decision!
Hello, Yes! It is perfectly adequate to consider a revision from the sleeve to a DS 4 years out if you did not lose enough weight and/or are regaining. Your surgeon may decide to redo your sleeve too. We perform a barium swallow x ray to check the sleeve as part of the pre op tests and decide if a resleeve is needed to optimize results.
Hi ! Although the sleeve is a very successful surgery , some patients do not do well with restrictive procedures like the sleeve. You may need a malabsorbic surgery like a Duodenal Switch of a Gastric Bypass to help you lose the weight you still need to lose and to keep it off long term. You already have the first part of the DS done so the natural revision would be the DS vs a bypass. Your surgeon may decide to redo the sleeve at the same time depending on what size your sleeve is at the time of surgery.
Hello! The gastric bypass is the surgery we recommend for sleeve patients who do not have hernia and have not been able to control GERD with medication. Considering another procedure may not appear to be the optimal situation but GERD can cause serious problems long term if not treated. I would recommend consulting with a bariatric surgeon to explore your options.
Hello! Yes, you will ! This stage of just sipping will pass soon as you recover for surgery and the swelling goes down. This is the same for all weight loss surgeries by the way, not only the sleeve. Duodenal Switch and Gastric Bypass patients need to take sips throughout the day initially to keep hydrated. You will always drink smaller amounts and at a slower pace compared to how you drank before surgery. Resist the urge to drink as you did before surgery, it will not be a pleasant experience. Best of luck on your recovery!
