I have 3 scars in between my eyes/forehead area & wanted them to look better. I went to my Dermatologist for Fraxel. He numbed the area...it didn't hurt it just felt hot when he got close to the unnumbed area. Overall my scars have improved a bit but i will probably go back for another treatment. It looked scary at first, i wore a bandage for a couple weeks when i left my home. It's still a little pink.
There should be some response after 4 treatments esp for a black tattoo. I believe there are more effective tattoo lasers for black ink such as the Qs Yag 1064 so you might see someone with a Qs Yag laser. Other ways to remove resistant tattoos is to retreat several times at the same setting or using a fractionated resurfacing laser before using the tattoo removal laser. For this you would need to see a dermatologist who is experienced in tattoo removal.
currently the most effective treatment for hypopigmented scarring is the 1540 or 1550nm Fraxel laser. It does help to blend the hypopigmentation and also improves the texture, so find a dermatologist that has Fraxel laser.
