I will be 50 next month and I wanted to look a little younger and fresh. I knew of Dr Lee for years: He is a multiple awards winner for aesthetic injections, he his a published author and a trainer for doctors in the Facial Injectable industry. So why did I not go to see him before? I don't know, but what I know is that after going to Dr Lee I will NOT go to anyone else! The office is classy and chic, the employees are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable and Dr Lee is just AWESOME! He is friendly, funny, nice and very humble! He gives you his honest opinion on what you need but he is not pushy. I decided how many years I wanted to erase from my face and that's what he did. He has a special unique technique so I had no pain or discomfort during the procedure. No bruising after. And very very minimal swelling. I could not be happier! Thank you Dr. Lee!
A couple of years ago I had Juverderm injected in my tear troughs and had great results and it last quite a long time. Last May my doctor suggested I try Restylane Silk. It 'puddled up' under each eye. The doctor tried to massage it and it improved about 5%. It is now 3 months later and the lumps are still there. I have used Restylane in the lips and the results were short lived. However Juvederm lasted a year! I am hoping the that Restylane Silk dissipates as quickly under my eyes as it did in my lips. Quite frankly I have nothing good to say about my experiences with Restylane and everything good to say about Juvederm.
I was really scared to get treatment to my under eye troughs after the scary reviews. So glad I got this procedure! After doing research for over 8 months I decided to go to Dr. Gary lee @ look younger m.d. in Nevada. he's an instructor, and INVENTOR of several cosmetic injection techniques specializing in advanced anti-bruising and anti swelling technique. Also nationally published. He's extremely professional and really takes his time from beginning to end. This was my 2nd visit. The first was 1cc of restalyne silk I had no bruising! a Little swelling lasted 1 day! Today I got 1cc in under eye tear troughs I need 1 more. He spaces treatment out to minimize your down time. He's a great Dr. NOT many like him. So happy with my results! Updated on 4 Mar 2016: Had a lil swelling next day nothing to bad was able to run around for errands.
My advice avoid at all costs! Dr.Lee BOTCHED my face & then intentionally kept me in a room bullying & demanding I sign a paper stating that if he refunded the botched service I would “take the incident no further”, basically preventing my raising any future concerns or writing a review such as this. After reassessing the incident, I realized I had to share my experience. I selected Dr.Lee based his “rave” reviews & accolades, which I now believe to be sketchy sketchy sketchy! Do your research! I believe Dr.Lee used to have another office under different branding that he shut down because of bad reviews and botched work. My first time in Dr.Lee’s office the nurse that greeted me was nice, showed me to a room & gave me paperwork. The room has pics of Dr.Lee with B/C list celebrities, his achievements etc. they have a TV on loop with pics & repetitive information describing Dr.Lee as more than a “master injector”, he is the teacher of master injectors. He presents himself as highly skilled, & appears to be the creme de la creme in the injectable industry. He advertises himself as being associated with the creators of TV show "botched" which is hilarious because he botches work himself. I told him most important was the “botox eyebrow lift”, furrow between brows, & crows feet, I wanted my forehead frozen but still movement in my brows & we agreed. I told Dr.Lee previously I had done 50 units of botox then moved to 80. He immediately pushes me towards 300 units dysport, he said I wouldn’t get the results I wanted with 80 units of botox. I am only 31 & although I have some wrinkles have always achieved desired results with 80 units MAX, usually less, depending on how long between services & the skill of the injector. I stressed I had tried dysport & had issue with droopy brow & repeatedly said I was worried because of this but he managed to over sell me on dysport saying I would have no issue with drooping as he knew where to place the product & dysport is not as strong as botox so more units was ok. He then takes pictures with their lighting on both client's device and the Dr’s., I found it odd he doesn’t have an “in-office” camera, he takes pics of you on his cell phone. After taking the pics & numbing he injected my face. I noticed the drooping within a few days & called the office. ! I go in that Friday at 4:00 pm, my entire face is frozen at this point and my left eyebrow is at a complete.. Dr.Lee see’s the drooping & immediately says my eyes were droopy to begin & compares my eyes to his own! Chuckling saying he’s going to need surgery soon too, insinuating that I need surgery, as if my eyes are droopy like his & that’s the only way to fix it, I was appalled!! I told him it was clear in the picture HE took on my phone that what I told him was true. He argued shoving a blown-up picture from a completely different angle in my face, saying my eyes were droopy like his before any procedure, a complete lie. I told him look at this picture, HE took, from a DIRECT front angle & you can see that’s not the case. He has me email the pic & blows it up before admitting I am right & he is wrong! After admitting his mistake, he says the solution is a new product called Upneeq, an eyedrop that raises the lid a few MM. We try the drop & it has a small effect, I was so over injected my brow felt heavy!! He says he will give me a full supply worth $250 for free, I thanked him for apologizing & asked for a refund of the $600 I paid for the botched service. He paused & hemmed & hawed before saying as it was his mistake, he was going to do the right thing & refund me. I could tell he didn't want to refund me but legally he had to. About 30-40 mins later the same nurse I met on my first visit comes in apologizing for him & said she understood his behavior wasn’t acceptable. She gives me a paper asking me to sign it before he gives me the check. I said absolutely not I’m not signing anything else I have been here long enough I want my refund & to leave. Dr.Lee comes back in with her & keeps demanding my word this be the “end of the issue” before he will refund me & for the next 20 mins keeps pressing me to sign. I began filming as things had gotten way weird! It was crazy a doctor was trying to bully me into signing a gag order so he could protect himself from his botched work & disturbing conduct being revealed. I have video footage of my repeatedly asking him if he is going to refund me without my signing his gag order and he will not give me a straight answer just keeps trying to bully me into signing. I let him know that I was filming & that I had had enough it was almost 6 pm & got up to leave, realizing I’m filming & how bad it looks (illegal?) he caved & gave me the check. 30 minutes after I leave I get an email from Dr.Lee apologizing for the wait “in comparing pictures” claiming that “with upneeq I have excellent dysport results” FALSE!!!! I emailed back I didn’t intend to suffer the headache & nausea caused by Upneeq & let him know he couldn’t pass this botched work off as “excellent”. The following week I accompanied my friend to her appointment with Dr.Khorsandi who thankfully was able to fix his botched work by properly injecting botox into the crowsfeet wrinkles that Dr.Lee hadn’t fixed correctly, he was able to lift my left eyebrow fixing the botched work! I will be seeing Dr.Khorsandi for all my injections here in Las Vegas and advise EVERYONE TO AVOID DR.LEE! The experience I had with him was traumatizing on many levels & I will be sending the video footage to the BBB as I do not think it is legal for any medical professional to bully you into signing a paper intended to silence you in exchange for refund of a botched procedure.
The problem with neuromodulators like Botox for perioral lines is that the risk of saliva drooling from misplacement is significant and it is not correctable...you must just wait until it wears off. I have even seen this result from Allergan instructors who have come to me (as another Allergan instructor) for correction of their paralysis. Another issue is that it generally only lasts 3 or so months so I almost always recommend injectable fillers such as Restylane Silk, Restylane Refyne, Juvederm Ultra, and Juvederm Volbella instead, but one must keep in mind that injection above the lips may result in the lip itself involuting decreasing the size of your upper lip. Often, I recommend patients also inject their upper lip also to maintain their lip size from diminishing. Best Wishes, Garry R. Lee, MD, Look Younger MD
With smiling (animation) it is not uncommon to have facial asymmetry which is natural to you but perhaps more evident after treatment because of closer after-inspection. I agree that you should check your face for smiling photos with different degrees of animation, because one has to match the degree of expression to make an accurate comparison. Nevertheless, our objective is to attain symmetry, if we can, to compensate for muscular or soft tissue variations related to over or under usage, trauma, or simply the result of heredity. In your case, I suspect your predominate chewing on the right and teeth grinding contribute to your asymmetry, and I strongly suggest you consult with an experienced oral surgeon before you do a cosmetic correction. A muscular imbalance may be present and certainly teeth grinding should be corrected to prevent TMJ. Only after oral surgeon consultation and any correction which may be needed, would I proceed with cosmetic correction. I see a deepening of your right NL fold but it appears to extend into your right ML longer on the right. Consequently, I would recommend your injector use Juvederm Ultra Plus or Restylane Defyne to layer in the SQ area to match the degree of wrinkling. I recommend the microcannula technique using the TSK SteriGlide to minimize discomfort and bruising. As always, I suggest you find someone with vast experience in these particular techniques instead of just general credentialing and I suggest you confirm this with close examination of their pre/post treatment photos. Agree with Dr. Emer, there is significant duration variation according to the different types of fillers, the filler depth of injection, individual metabolic rates of patients, and the amount deposited in each area. Generally speaking, less movement in the area injected tends to prolong duration and more movement--such as in the lips--tends to shorten the duration because of increased wear. Consequently, I have found that injection of Juvederm Ultra Plus in horizontal forehead static lines tends to last up to 2 years, whereas, in lips, Juvederm Ultra tends to last only about 6 months. The greater the depth of injection, the longer the tendency for duration and the more shallow the injection depth, the shorter the duration. Also, the greater the amount deposited, the longer it tends to last. I am not aware of any research into the male/female differences in duration of action. Please keep in mind that these are only my individual clinical impressions. Your injector should select the characteristics of the filler to match your needs for the area injected; I suggest someone with great experience in cosmetic filler injections and great photos of actual patient results. Also, look for a "realself Most Loved Injector for 2017" designation as an indicator of whom to select; I am honored to be among those chosen. Best Wishes, Garry R. Botox only relaxes what we call "dynamic" wrinkles--or wrinkles which become apparent when we move these muscles. The most common is the glabella area between the eyes, or what many call the "elevens," for their apparent similarity to that number in the vertical fissures they often form. When I teach physicians for Allergan (the Botox and Juvederm manufacturer) or Galderma (the Defyne and Restylane manufacturer), it is imperative that they understand that if your muscles are already relaxed and the wrinkle is present, then Botox can only help a little by reducing muscle tension. Over time, the repetitive motion of the corrugator and procerus muscles in combination with the forces of aging increase skin laxity resulting in the loss of volume in this area creating what is called a "static" wrinkle--one which is there without movement. This can be treated--off label--with the injection of cosmetic fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane, however it is high risk because of the risk of injecting into blood vessels or compressing blood vessels resulting in skin necrosis or clot formation--which can embolize resulting in stroke or blindness. I serve on both the Allergan & Galderma National Advisory Boards and consequently cannot officially recommend the injection of cosmetic filler here as an off label treatment. However as an individual practitioner, I have been injecting Juvederm and Restylane in this area for years with great results (see photos) and no complications by under-treating with filler to avoid compression and by aspiration and superficial injection using a microcannula with a blunt tip instead of a needle. If you wish to have this injected with cosmetic filler, I suggest you only interview injectors with vast experience in these techniques and great results--and consider it very carefully because the risks inherent in this area for necrosis, stroke, and blindness are so high. Your photos don't show your skin texture very well, but certainly skin texture can be improved remarkably just by adding Platelet-Rich Plasma to your microneedling sessions as well as Radio Frequency treatments, such as Skinfinity RF. Just use the PRP in place of the usual microneedling gel in a series of 3 treatments about a month apart, but the full effect is really at 6 months post-treatment since these procedures stimulate skin rejuvenation. What may be most prominent in your photos is a little accentuation of the marionette line (which appears as a droop in the corner of your mouth) and the nasolabial fold (the line from the bottom of your nose to the corner of your mouth). I teach for Allergan and Galderma and serve on their National Advisory Boards, and can speak confidently that both Juvederm and Restylane would do wonders as cosmetic injectable fillers to lift these wrinkles. I recommend you find someone who knows the advanced microcannula injection technique in place of the conventional hypodermic needle to minimize pain and bruising. I suggest you find someone with great photographic results who actually specializes in doing these procedures--instead of someone who just does it occasionally. Other options include laser technology, so I also suggest you review the other options presented by other doctors on realself after me. Best Wishes, Garry R. Lee, MD, Look Younger MD, Las Vegas.
