I am 65 yo with 40 yo silicone implants. Have them removed with capsulectomies and lift. Recovery has been slow - the incision under my right breast has an open wound about 2.5 cm. I was told this happens because of poor circulation in that part of the breast and it's not unusual and may take some time to heal. Has this happened to anyone? What was the treatment for it? I am very happy with the lift and extremely relieved to have those implants out.
Dr. Perdikis is a great surgeon. However, I will say the aftercare is terrible. You will see him only twice. I say him at my initial visit and the day of surgery. All of the follow up care will be handled by a different PA or NP at every visit and I never got told to do the same thing twice. They will encourage you to use the portal if you have questions. You will get those answers in 4 days. I did have some issues and ended up having to go to my primary doctor for care. I am happy with my results in his skill. The after care was not good. I had planned to book other procedures, but I will not be doing that.
Drove all the way to Tennessee to get a tummy tuck and breast lift from him because my friend had great things to say about him. The office staff was awful. Nobody did anything right. Things getting canceled, not charging me correctly, not giving me pre op info, it goes on and on. I was supposed to have liposuction and didn’t, not enough skin was taken off, belly button is now too far on one side of my stomach and looks weird, pleating in the breast’s, so much pain and swelling I almost went to the ER, etc. Everything was a mess.. They canceled my 6 week post op appointment and said he wouldn’t be available again for 3 more months. Never did get to have that appointment, I’m still waiting for their call 6 months later. I will need revisions but won’t be going back there that’s for sure.
I called for a consult about a panniculectomy (excessive (loose) skin removed from my abdomen), they got me in quickly. I had my consult with the amazing staff. Dr. Perdiks first impression was everything and more. They seemed so ready supportive and sure. They listened to everything I was saying. They took Pics of my abdomen area, sent them into my insurance, called me back in exactly one week scheduled my surgery for me. All communication was easy and very well explained. My surgery team was just as fantastic as my follow up team. and I could not have had a better experience. If I could have gone back and had a different choice, I would have chosen this Team and Dr. all over again. I feel amazing.
Hi Miami! Your question is a common question, so you are not alone. One of my interests is revisional surgery and so I do get to hear this from patients from time to time. What you are asking in my opinion is possible. Downsizing is done all the time. The important issue is whether your skin envelope of the breast has loosened up over the years (I know, gravity and aging is not fair!). If it has, you may need a ‘mastopexy’ or breast lift together with the downsizing. This does require a detailed exam and discussion as to your personal goals. As far a mastopexy goes, there are various types of scar patterns that can be used dependent on how loose the skin is. So in summary, definitely possible, but needs careful assessment and planning. All the best Miami!
I am so sorry you are struggling with your face lift scars. Those do look reddened, broad and not what you were expecting, I bet! Scarring is tricky and does sometimes take time to settle. In my opinion in general terms, scars can be improved by using silicone gel sheeting, massage with Vit E, laser at times and sometimes a low dose of steroid injection. You may well need a scar revision but this is best determined in a few months. Scarring can be the result of multiple factors but I would like to see you ultimately with nice thin scars close to your hairline. In my experience with situations not dissimilar to yours where patients have been referred in to my practice with concerns about an outcome, there are options to improve the situation. It does however require time, and some one who is experienced with revisional surgery given that sometimes these issues are often related to skin flap tension etc. Doing the revision too early can be problematic because of this. I sincerely wish you all the best and hope this answer has helped guide your next steps. Galen Perdikis
