I was in a terrible accident that totally ruined my nasal area. Dr Menick worked wonders and is a nasal reconstruction expert. After being treated by him people can't even tell that I was in an accident- he was able to reconstruct everything as to how it was before the accident. Never thought it was possible but he went over and beyond my expectations and I am very grateful I was able to be treated by him.
Saved my confidence! I Received a terrible nose job, thought I did the right research , best reviews etc, saved all throughout high school so get pay $12000 in Beverly Hills by a famous Doctor. Worst mistake. After a year with my botched nose, I found Dr. Menick, and he fixed my nose! I seriously cannot thank him enough.
1. Found out I had basal cell skin cancer on nose. 2. Next, I went to U.S. news and World Report Top 10 hospital for removal and reconstruction of skin cancer. Was assured about the reconstruction surgeon's expertise by both dermatologist, staff and plastic surgeon and staff regarding forehead flap and reconstruction that he does that surgery " all the time" and was shown pictures in his office (not on his web site) of his work. 3. Result - UGH! Ended up with botched, notched, disfigured nose that friends had a hard time looking at (one nostril was way off). My mom even started bawling the first time that she saw me. (That made me feel the worst). At this time, I am doubtful that the pictures that I was shown in his office were actually previous doctor's patients. 4. Now the good part and good news. Found Dr. Menick. Hooray, consulted with Dr. Menick in Tuscon to fix my nose. He offered me a couple of choices, and I chose the easy route (to work with the existing flap) which would give me the least amount of result but I wanted to try that first without having to go through another forehead flap. I am a baby and spent almost half of that year (having little surgeries almost every 6 weeks) getting worked on by the previous doctor with false promises and meager results so I was slightly sick of surgery, looking goofy and wanted to try the easy route. 5. Result after Dr. Menick worked on me. Now, more good news. One week post op, I am very happy with the result from Dr. Menick. It is not perfect but nose is straighter and more socially acceptable and no longer distracting looking. If I want a perfect nose, I can do another forehead flap but at this time I am very happy with the work that he did. 6. My final thoughts. I want to reiterate to anyone with skin cancer of the nose or face..... Run do not walk to Dr. Menick's office. He is world renowned and on top of that.... he really cares about making YOU look perfect. Dr. Menick has trained other doctors and wrote the manual for reconstruction of the nose and face and most if not all doctors that do nasal reconstruction use his manual. The problem here is that a manual for something complicated only goes so far so if you truly want a good result go to Dr. Menick. After all the research I did... (Tons) There are about three really good surgeons in Nasal and skin cancer reconstruction and Dr. Menick is at the top of the totem pole. Plus, he is a lovely man and treats his reasonable patients very nicely. So, my only regret is not finding Dr. Menick in the first place. I would not have wasted months ( almost 6 months) of my life getting worked on with another Doctor and if I had found Dr. Menick in the first place. Updated on 24 Feb 2018: Menick is wonderful and best a recon for cancer or anything sort of nasal disfigurement. My nose is not perfect but it is 95% better than it was before I went to Menick. My neighbor is a plastic surgeon and he stated that my nose is great. My friends are amazed at how great I look to how I looked originally from previous doctor. I had total of 5 surgeries but I look so much better,
I had my deviated septum fixed and a rhinoplasty done by Dr. Menick over 4 years ago. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I breath beautifully now vs. before I would have daily nose bleeds, sinus infections, and I couldn't breath well. I had a hump taken out of my nose and my tip fixed. My result is balanced, feminine, and fits my face. I am forever grateful to Dr. Menick.
I call Dr Menick my guru doctor. The improvement in my appearance after his work was miraculous. He reset a flap down, repaired numerous scar areas including forehead and nose, built an alar (two surgery procedure using ear cartilage), extended my nose, brought my right eye brow into normal position, removed excess skin from my cheek. When I went to see him, I looked and felt deformed. After, I felt good about myself and no longer get double takes.
Rhinoplasty done by chicago plastic surgeon. Results were terrible. Dr. Menick described exactly what he could do to fix a very difficult problem. He was able to decrease the nostril size, lift the tip and decrease the size of the entire nose. The results were outstanding. Dr menick is straight forward and honest. He is an artist and if you are in need of a difficult nasal reconstruction, he is your man. Anyone who has had a bad outcome, may not understand the limitations of the most difficult type of plastic surgery-rhinoplasty. You must achieve a balance of function and beauty. Dr. Menick is skilled, and realistic. He is fantastic.
I had skin cancer that grew from my nose onto my cheek and a space above my upper right lip area, Dr Menick set me up with a great Tucson Mohs surgeon. He then started surgeries which were 7 in total to complete and achieve the results we both were looking for. I am amazed at how great I look and all my family & friends respect and admire his integrity and skill set. I look incredible and am so happy with how I look.
I made the biggest mistake several years ago choosing Dr Menick to revise my primary surgery. He acted confident he could fix my nose, and understood what I wanted it to look like (which was close to my nose before my primary botched surgery). The day he took off the cast/gauze I cried. I could not believe how ugly the nose was. I was beyond horrified. The nose was far bigger than my original nose! It had much wider shape, longer nose (the bottom part hangs and looks ugly now). The tip was wide and bulbous. I was told it was swelling. It’s been several years. The nose never got any better. It also still swells up. And now my septum is starting to push into my nasal opening - I imagine in a few years- I will need some kind of surgery to fix this. Since then I also have horrific nasal issues (when I get a cold - mucus drips down in thick strings down my throat choking me) which were not present before. It was a horrible mistake. It took away all my confidence. I was quite attractive and now I hate the camera and edit every photo fixing my nose in them all. I believe my nose will collapse soon, shards of septum have started to poke to the skin at the base and inside. I tried to address issues with him, and he didn’t care at all. To him, he just ruins people’s faces but as long as he gets paid - he doesn’t care.
I needed extensive rebuilding on my bridge and tip. Not only he did not rebuild my nose as we discussed he made it even thinner than before. My nose has the same issues as it did before the revision with him- upturned tip, scooped bridge, short and ugly. Now is even worse because he made my nose extremely crooked, asymmetric, and uneven with lots of visible bumps. Each side of the nose looks like it is from a separate face. I had 4 consultations with him and we were both on the same page about the goals. He was very confident that he can reach those goals. Now, after the horrifying outcome of the surgery, he says that he's done the best of his ability. If he was upfront about what he can actually achieve I would have gone with someone else. He made me think that there is no limit to what he can do in terms of rebuilding. My nose does not look "rebuild" although I have a 3-inch scar on my rib cage. I have no idea where all that cartilage from my rib plus what I had in my septum went because it did not go on my nose. Another thing he obviously has no clue about is attractive facial proportions. He left me with a kid size nose on my big and wide face. He narrowed my bridge and entire nose when it was already too narrow and I shared that concern with him multiple times. He did not want to make my nose wider although I wanted that so I compromised to leave it as it is and rebuild the bridge and tip from that frame. He did the exactly opposite of everything we agreed on before the surgery. He shaved my radix on the sides and way more on one side when I asked for it to be made wider because the first surgery made it thin and deformed. He made it way worse and I doubt that it can be corrected. My eyes don’t look even anymore because of how crooked and asymmetric the radix is. It looks like one eye is put lower and further to the side than compared to the other. The tip is leaning to one side and it has an ugly and upturned look from the front and side (especially one side). I was told by his receptionist that he makes natural looking noses but this cannot look any more botched and fake. I am horrified and still in disbelief that someone who is known to rebuild noses can ruin mine even further than before. If I could add photos here I would to see how disgusting my nose is.
Damaged eye and breathing problems! Horrible unbelievable pain for months. Both eyes sunken and nerve damage Overwhelming. Consult with another surgeon confirmed that there is extensive scarring and unexplained implant? Dr. Menick did extensive and irreversible damage. Ophthalmologist stated that tear ducts are damaged.
