Hello lexiegeneva34, On the one image seen it is my opinion that a breast lift at the time of augmentation would likely be most beneficial. That is, I would recommend an augmentation/ mastopexy be performed at the same time. I feel that a surgeon who performs this procedure routinely could affect the changes you are looking for in one surgery. I fear, that only undergoing breast augmentation would possibly result in a breast shape that is less than desirable. First, the bulk of your breast tissue is ptotic, that is, it is below the level of the infra mammary fold. Next, the recommended implant size is on the larger end of a primary breast augmentation and could cause some discomfort. I would rather you underwent one procedure instead of two. In the elective surgery world, multiple surgeries do cost more and the risks of anesthesia are increased. I typically would first perform the mastopexy part of the procedure and then augment the resulting breasts. In my hands, this typically meets or exceeds the patient's expectations and usually results in a larger fuller breast in a natural anatomic position. I know that downside includes the extra scarring, but I feel that one surgery prevents having to undergo recovery twice. I hope this makes sense, but please do not hesitate to contact me for further questions or concerns. Also, would like to add that typically the surgeon should do a complete examination and typically recent mammograms would be necessary before proceeding based on your age and / or family history of breast cancer. Good Luck, Floyd Herman, MD Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, The American Board of Plastic Surgery.
