I decided to pursue the bariatric balloon to help with loosing at least 20 lbs. I live a very active life a style but I did need a little help with my diet. I tend to eat out too often and the portions are big. Day 1- hours post procedure I had stomach discomfort and I did have emesis. Day 2- more emesis in the morning and more discomfort. I went in for IV hydration and IV meds as per protocol Start WT:165 HT: 5’3 Updated on 11 Aug 2023: The first 5 days were the worst, feelings of discomfort and bloating with a few episodes of emesis and nausea as well as colic pain which was the worst. I will say that now 7 days in I can drink more water and tolerate food better, I still have feelings of hunger and of course cravings however my intake of food is less and I constantly feel full or what I describe as bloating. In fact I will say the main side effect as of right now is the constant burps. I currently don't feel like I have a balloon in place (surprisingly). I am excited to get back to my regular routine of working out and hoping to see the weight trend down. Will keep posted.
I've struggled with my weight for years and it's been really creeping on more over the last 8 years. I went in for the Orbera ballon on9/29/17 after losing and regaining on diet after diet. I had gotten to the point where I had given up because I felt the amount of weight I had to lose was insurmountable. I would work so hard to lose two pounds and then gain it all back with a slice of pizza. I was not comfortable with my weight and I was starting to worry that I would begin to have health problems.
The procedure was painless don't remember a thing . Sleeping I had to find a good position. Found it better to put pillars behind my back and slightly upright works. Day one, yes I got sick perhaps 3 time attempting to consume enough liquid to avoid dehydration , but day 3 I'm 100 % better. Recommend procedure. Updated on 8 Sep 2017: Today made One month and I'll lost 16 lbs. My goal was 15. So lets see what the next month will bring.
