Since developing diastasis recti and lose skin resulting from my first pregnancy 9 years ago I joined Real Self because I knew I wanted this surgery- since then a relocation to a much smaller city and another pregnancy put plans on hold - I had all but given up hope of getting the surgery because I didn't trust any surgeon not located in London to do a good job plus the price was crazy I heard rave reviews about a surgeon in Luxembourg however who gave a good scars to their patients, so I booked a consultation not hoping for much. The initial consultation changed everything; Dr Wolff's personality was unlike what I expected- listening intently to me ramble on and on about what I wanted, what I thought I knew, what i thought was best for me (!). Dr Wolff very humbly then explained what results I could expect, what she sees personally for my body keeping my proportions and lifestyle in mind - I see now that being able to communicate so openly with her gave me the trust I had in what she had to say. There was no fuss in the process she explained, whereas reading a lot of reviews had left me feeling this type of surgery was nothing short of an ordeal. Boy did she deliver! Everything went very smoothly, I waited only 2 months for a date at the hospital and the surgery was booked. The hospital itself is a lovely environment, nurses are lovely, processes are clearly kept with the patients comfort in mind. The three days I was there were a breeze. Of course like with any surgery there are risks and obviously recovery depends on the individual but I have read many techniques a skilled surgeon can use to not only minimize these but to also give a great result I.e initially give a well placed symmetrical thin scar because of the way they stature, having a natural looking belly button- no outward scars, not having a lumpy result with aggressive removal of fat (she decided not to remove any for me and she was right!) removing just the right amount of lose skin to avoid tension on the scar in the same vain prescribing not only the right amount of medication to ease discomfort but also suggest products like silicone tape to outwardly support the incision for 6 weeks to allow for the best scar possible (not all surgeons do this) I am and will forever be greatful that Dr Wolff unexpectedly had all these skills- I can't lie the price of €5700 sold me already so I had given up the idea of a "perfect" result because you couldn't get great results for cheap right (?!) But seeing the outstanding results I have, has blown me away- I did not expect it. I would also say though I had the drain in for only a day- the technique the Dr uses is the same that surgeons use who perform "Drainless Tummy Tucks" I haven't had a build up of liquid and minimal swelling. Also no aces from the drains as they were in for such a little time. For those considering the surgery honestly go in to consult with Dr Wolff you won't regret it. I will just emphasize the importance of staying on top of your medication because when I did it served me well, scar has healed so well there are areas I have to switch the light on to see where it is for my lymphatic drainage massage- again prescribed my Dr Wolff. When I look in the mirror I thank you daily- who knew you could find a gem in Luxembourg!
