I had my band done back in 2009 and within the first couple of years, I lost over 100 lbs without exercising. I chose lap band because I am the nervous type and didn't want anything I couldn't reverse. Since the weight loss, I'm naturally active now so it helps me with maintaining my weight loss. The band works if you have the discipline to go in for fills until you hit your sweet spot and if you have a great doctor like I did. I lost about 2 lbs/week and because it was a slow and steady loss, I didn't have problems with loose skin or losing my hair. I admit that I didn't take any protein supplements either, but luckily I was able to get most of my protein in by diet. I kept off the weight until I had a revision to a sleeve (2016). I still recommend the band if you have a great doctor or fill person if you want something reversible.
