When I found out that I had a basal cell carcinoma on the tip of my nose (yes, the worst possible location you can imagine), I started researching qualified Mohs-procedure surgeons. Every road led to Dr. Hale, and I now know why. Yes, Dr. Hale has all the wonderful characteristics mentioned in other reviews - thorough, concerned, professional, kind, and more. But beyond these factors, Dr. Hale is an incredibly skilled surgeon. In my case, the Mohs procedure required the doctor to carve out a hole in my nose (slightly larger than the diameter of cigarette burn), which then needed to be stitched up in a fashion that would leave minimal scarring. As you can imagine, I was absolutely terrified, and also convinced that there was no way my nose would ever heal from such an invasive procedure. Dr. Hale (and her equally kind, attentive and professional staff) did an absolutely outstanding job on my Mohs procedure. She explained every step in the procedure as we went along, gave me options where relevant, and operated both thoroughly and quickly. Dr. Hale made very sure that she removed all of the dangerous cells, while also protecting the healthy tissue wherever possible. Ultimately, she had to create several significant incisions to repair the site of the damage, and very skillfully manipulated the skin to close the hole. At this point (2 months later), I'm still healing, but I have no doubt that I will have no scarring at all. Dr. Hale has generously offered laser treatments, which will continue to reduce the scarring. But in reality, most people don't even notice the scar - I could happily live with it as is. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Hale, for tackling a scary surgery in a very highly visible location. I've vowed to bake brownies to thank her, but for now, this review will have to suffice!
Dr. Hale is a top-notch dermatologist-- I could not recommend her more enthusiastically. Her stellar clinical credentials, professionalism, sensitivity and intelligence combine to make her make her a truly exceptional physician. She has a warm and positive demeanor, and really listens to her patients’ needs. In my case, I first sought Dr. Hale out for a cosmetic procedure to help relieve my ‘tired look’. I was relieved to hear her philosophy was to take a conservative approach. I was also delighted to find she had an expert aesthetic eye and gentle touch. (I am prone to bruising, but I had almost no after-effects after she administered Belotero to my undereye.) When I initially looked into getting fillers, I was very worried about looking artificial. Indeed, I consulted with several ‘rock star’ dermatologists before proceeding with Dr. Hale. The other physicians didn’t listen to nor address my concerns, and wanted to perform far many more procedures than I felt was necessary. There was never a need to fear this with Dr. Hale. She made me comfortable from the moment she walked in the room, and she was very patient, taking the time to step me through my questions and anxieties. Most importantly, I left her office looking healthy, rested—and very natural. I could not recommend her more highly. In fact, I have several relatives and friends who have since become Dr. Hale-converts. That is endorsement unto itself!! I cannot imagine using another dermatologist, and I trust she will be keeping me looking ‘healthy and rested’ for many years to come.
Dr. Hale has been my dermatologist for 3 years. She saved my face. I had a horrible experience with a CO2 laser procedure done by a doctor in Germany that went terribly wrong. I came to New York and visited several notable doctors including Dr. Hale. Every other doctor looked at my face and said they didn't believe there was much they could do to help. However, Dr. Hale was confident she could make it better. She told me it would take a few procedures but that there would be an improvement. She was so positive and reassuring. She is intelligent and sure of herself without being arrogant. She is the kind of person you wish would be a friend of yours in your private life. She made me feel like there was going to be light at the end of the tunnel. After about a year and 2 different laser treatments - V Beam and Clear & Brilliant, nobody would ever know that there had ever been anything wrong with my face. Thanks to Dr. Hale it looks perfect now. Every time I am in New York I visit Dr. Hale as my primary dermatologist. She has done other procedures on me at my request. I feel very lucky to have found her - she is wonderful and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER.
I was skeptical at first but Dr. Elizabeth Hale made me feel so comfortable that I am so glad that I went through with these procedures. In February, 2014 I had my first juvederm treatment. I could not believe the difference right away. My eyes look amazing and my skin is smoother. My friends have noticed some change but cannot pinpoint the change. which means I look natural and rested. In April, 2014 I returned for a second treatment of botox and I am equally as satisfied with the results. I highly recommend Dr. Elizabeth Hale. She did not push me into anything I was not ready to do and I look natural and rested.
Walking round NYC, I see many derm cases taken too far - over full cheek fillers and heavy foreheads . Being a busy mom in her 40's - I wanted to look better but not like I had work done. Dr. Hale recommended Sculptra has a way to gradually add volume but not look artificial or done. Very pleased with the results. The needles were a bit uncomfortable but manageable with the numbing cream.
I am not sure of the name of the type of laser used in facial hair removal. However, the procedure is quick and it works much better than electrolysis. It is costly, but worth it as it takes awhile for the hair to grow back. If you can afford it and have the numbing cream applied first, it is completely painless. If you have the hair removed with just ice and no numbing cream, it is tolerable. Very quick either way.
I cannot speak highly enough about the care and expertise I received from Dr Liz Hales. I had an area of skin cancer on my forehead, which needed removal. Was very worried about scarring, it was in a very difficult place to suture. She did an amazing job, it is healing incredibly well, and can tell that in a month or two I will not see any scarring. The office is incredible well run, very little wait time, every one is really friendly and helpful. What could have been a truly stressful procedure was not.
It is hard to write as I would like to believe reviews of Dr. Hale and her help with cancer patients. For me, was aesthetic purposes, and results were devastating and costly. Came to her for simple hyaluronic acid correction for an overinjjection of a filler. Instead, she stated an injection of Belotero would remedy the situation. Not only did it make matters worse, she was training an intern and told him I had a “fat pocket”! She is more than welcome to see my none existent pocket now that fillers have left. Even better, after charging me $850 for Belotero, her office called to say I owed additional $250. for hyaluronic acid injection only to call days later to say that billing was a mistake. Only mistake was seeing Dr. Hale in the first place
Full thickness skin grafts are a common method of repairing surgical defects after Mohs surgery. They definitely improve aeshetically with time, with most grafts continuing to mature for 6-24 months. However, at our center, we treat many of these grafts (and other surgical scars) with fractional resurfacing lasers. This greatly improves both the color and texture of the graft scar. Laser treatment can be initiated wihtin a month after the surgical procedure.
