Your tooth was probably cracked. I would&nbsp;say no refund is due. &nbsp;Would need to see your X-rays to tell.

Is it reasonable for us to ask the dentist for partial refund on unnecessary work done an a tooth?

What tooth cannot be located with an X-ray to find an infection?  I call bs on this.  Our office has a cbct so nothing will go undiagnosed.  I'd recommend finding a new dentist

How can a tooth with a root canal be painful-one year later?

I'm my dental office we replace your crown with no questions if you are unhappy within the first 7 years. if your dentist doesn't follow this policy find a new one.

Make an appointment with an Endodontist.  You probably have an infected tooth and need a root canal.  Definitely not the end of the world.

The post looks good however the root canal does not look so great.  Looks like the dentist missed treating a canal.  Too late for a second opinion now the tooth is out

This is normal in many instances where bone grafting was either not used or would not integrate after placement.  If you were not offered a bone graft that may be a better question for your dentist

While this is not ideal there are some situations that would warrant placing a permanent crown on a tooth that may need a root canal tooth. I suggest you discuss this question with your dentist directly

Would a dentist put a permanent crown on a tooth supporting a new bridge if he thought a root canal would be needed?

You need to have a dentist cement the crown back on if it I fact can be recemented.  You risk the chance of further damaging the tooth underneath
