QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Tummy tuck 11 months post-op, don't feel good with my results. Is this normal? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,
This is a hard question to answer without your pre-op pictures but I can see a great lower abdominal scar this is very symmetrical, I can see a great umbilical scar that is hard to see in your pictures. The appearance when you suck in your tummy suggests that the skin and muscle have been contoured well. The other 2 pictures show that your abdominal contents are pushing out a bit if your tummy muscle is relaxed. Abdominal muscle tone will be part of that appearance I think.

Overall I think you have a great result.

Sharp muscular-like pain in corner of 1 eye ever since eyelid surgery - it's been 7 years

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

You don't say how long ago the surgery was done but if it was some months or years ago, one would expect pain related to the surgery to be settled by now. I could be directly related to the suture knot but you say you have been told this is not the case. It could be to do with the direction of pull of the suture or scar related to it. It is hard to imagine but hard to exclude without seeing you. You should continue to pursue this with your nearest ophthalmologist or plastic surgeon.

Why will I not be able to shower after my breast reduction?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

After the surgery you will have dressings that need to be left for a couple of weeks usually. They are often absorbent to collect any discharge from the wounds. These are usually left for two weeks and then removed in clinic. After that the healing wounds benefit from regular irrigation with water and a shower is excellent for that as bacteria are flushed away.

Will subglandular implants affect my ability to participate in bench pressing/strengthening my pectoralis muscles? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,

This is good question that I cover during a consultation for this surgery. Implants under the muscle disguise them better and can mean the capsules don’t cause trouble for longer. However if you exercise your pectoral muscles, the implants will move and may be uncomfortable. Female bodybuilders who have this surgery commonly have the implants under the breast. They will be more noticeable especially when you are naked but usually ok if you are in a bra. When in a bikini, they may be noticeable. The size of implants you have is also a factor. Small implants are less noticeable than big ones.

I hope that helps.

Blepharoplasty left heavy skin folds. Can this be corrected with a revision? Should I consider a brow lift? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,

I’m sorry you don’t like your blepharoplasty result. The scars look good if perhaps a little high. I couldn’t see asymmetry that you mention when I looked at your preop picture. Your eyes look fairly symmetrical but your left brow is slightly lower than the right. You are frowning in some of your pictures. This and the brow asymmetry could be improved with Botox. This is temporary fix but can be a useful way to improve things simply and cheaply to see if it gives the appearance you wish.

I hope that helps.

Breast lift with implants above muscle. Can the scar positioning be moved to the crease as initially anticipated (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,

I’m sorry to have had some. Trouble with the scars from your surgery. The surgery result looks excellent overall but I can see what you mean scars. It can be very difficult to get the scars exactly in the crease and they can move over time as the weight of the implants pulls on the skin. I would be concerned that trying to improve the position of the scar could affect other element of the shape of your breasts which are otherwise very good. It may be possible to improve the scar position but it might need smaller implants to allow this. That might move the positions of your nipples which look good in the photos.

I’m sorry that this is not a simple fix but I would consider this overall to be a good outcome.

Will dermarolling help flatten out or minimize the appearance of self harm scars?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,

I’m sorry your don’t like your scars. You don’t show any pictures so I’m not sure how bad they are. When there is single scar or a couple they can be changed but when there are multiple, they are very hard to disguise. One can remove them and skin graft the wound which looks bad but has a different look. One can shave them and then graft the skin back in a different orientation which can improve them. Laser resurfacing may help but will need several goes and they will still be there but less noticeable. Some people get tattoos to cover them up which may be the simplest approach if you don’t mind the tattoos there.

I hope that helps.

33 year old black female w/dark skin. What can I do to minimize the appearance of my surgical scars? 8 years post op

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,

I’m sorry you don’t like your scars. The surgeon seems to have a pretty good job of getting a good contour and the scars are not too bad. Pigmented skin always lays down some pigment in scars. Laser can be used to lighten colour in scars but this will tend not to work so well in dark skin.

I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Deep dimple scar from broken needle 13 years ago. What can I do to minimize its appearance? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,

Your scar is mature and has some tethering to the deeper tissues. It needs an operation to cut around the scar and close the skin over the scar. It will could be done under local anaesthetic but will leave a longer scar. Some residual depression in the scar may be present.

I hope that helps.

Are there topical creams that can be used to minimize the appearance of forehead scars? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi, this scar is too deep to be helped with a cream. It needs to be treated by a technique that evens out the skin contour. This could be dermabrasion or laser resurfacing. It may need more than one go as well as it can be hard to get a good contour immediately. It will always be there to some extent and any treatment will make it better not perfect.
I hope that helps.
