The 11 lines are those vertical somewhat parallel lines found between the brows. The more technical term is nasoglabellar lines. These creases result from the activity of the surrounding glabellar muscles and are usually associated with aging changes .
The evolution of sinus surgery techniques and technology have provided us with a variety of ways to treat chronic sinus disease refractory to medical therapy . However careful review of the patient's history , physical exam , CT scans as well as the extent ,severity and type of sinus disease are what in most cases determine choice of technique and technology. In general techniques have moved toward being less destructive ,preserving the anatomical structures and restoring movement of air through sinuses . There remains a place for the technology including the balloon dilation ,endoscopes(in most cases) ,CT imaging ,microdebrider as well as some of our more traditional techniques depending on the patient, the circumstances and the disease.
