Dr. Oschwald and his staff are so incredible. I am fascinated with my results and how the staff treated me. I was so nervous about having surgery but they all made me feel so comfortable. My results are near miraculous! I would recommend him!
Turning 40 with a desire to have a flat tummy after WLS. A couple of my friends used the same PS. After great research of his work I decided to use him as well. Surgery went well 9lbs off with full tummy tuck. Drains taken out a week later then 7 weeks post op “seroma” with infection. I was having major pain. Every time I stood up It was like my belly and Vagina was gonna fall off. I went in for PS to check it. He stuck me in 3 different places just not the part I said was hot and giving me pain to not get any fluid. So back home to suffer. 4 days later gushers of fluid pouring out of my body to no end!!! The seroma created an opening. It was the weekend so I called the on call PS went in he drained very little since for about an hour of draining in my shower it was mostly gone. He packed the opening with gaze advised me to not let the hole close and gave me antibiotics. Follow up with my doc 2 days later for official seroma diagnosis. He would rather give it time to close itself off before going in to repair it. So that’s where I am to this date. Leaking fluid swollen stretched tummy almost looking like my before tummy and super depressed feeling like I wasted a ton of money. Follow up appointment in 3 more days to see if seroma healed itself or discuss options. Updated on 9 Apr 2018: Soooo my gauze that was keep the opening open came out. Weekend was super busy thought I’d just address it at my appointment on Monday. So Monday comes and you can guess my now the healing process was in over drive and no way was a gauze gonna get it there. But I’m still leaking fluid. The volume has decreased I’m not sure if it’s because the opening is smaller or that the seroma is going dry. 3 day return visit for evaluation. Keep you posted. Also my belly has stretched to the point that I have a muffin top over my scar. This saddens me. Updated on 15 Apr 2018: Friday I had another follow up to check seroma status. Due to my closed opening(my fault) fluid began to build up again stretching again the wonderful works of what was a nice tummy tuck. Needless to say I’m having surgery to remove the seroma in two days. I’ll update with pics once I’m feeling better. I’m super worried that the seroma has completely ruined my chances of a flat tummy.
After have lost close to 125lbs from having gastric bypass in 2004 (I have put 25-35 back on/off over the last few years) I decided it was time to take care of some areas. I had an extended tummy tuck wtih a breast life and couldn't be happier!! I would do this again in a heartbeat and am loving the new me. Updated on 16 Jan 2014: I had a brachioplasty on 11/19 and am so pleased with the results thus far. My surgeon was extremely pleased when I went in for my check up earlier this week (1 day short of 8 weeks) and asked the nurse if I had given my permission to use my pics (I had). He said I have gone right to the head of the class! I am released to do all activities and hope to start using weights soon for more toning. (Can you see the incision line???)
Dr. Donald Oshwald of Specialists of Plastic Surgery performed a complete abdominoplasty on me on 9/25/2015. I initially went in August 2015 to discuss having liposuction, to reduce the amount of my midsection. He told me that I was not a good candidate for liposuction, and instead recommended a full abdominoplasty, and that it would be $10,885.00-which was paid in full prior to surgery. After the surgery was performed, my stomach still was not noticeably flatter like so many others stated it should be, even though a large piece of skin had been removed during the abdominoplasty. However, he stated at every post op visit that everything was doing well, even though almost 3 months after surgery the incision had to be re-opened and dead tissue had to be removed due to not healing correctly, causing additional recovery time. I followed all of his post op care instructions to the letter, and still did not see the expected "flatness" in my stomach that is normally seen with a full abdominoplasty. At my post op visit in March, when I questioned him about this, he told me there was nothing he could do, that the sutures holding the muscles together in my abdominal wall had come undone, and that I needed to diet and exercise. This had never been mentioned previously, and I had not gone crazy on my eating habits, so I had not gained any weight since surgery. I had followed all of his post op care instructions, and they had been the complete opposite of exercising, I was supposed to use caution while waiting for everything to heal. I was cut from one hip all the way to the other hip. After he told me this I went home and was extremely upset and disappointed. I called back to let him know how disappointed I was, and again was told there was nothing else he could do. I decided to go to several other doctors at this point for their opinion. I was told by all three that I should have never have had an abdominoplasty, that there was too much fat tissue underneath my muscles in my stomach, and that it would never work, and never provide the results that I wanted. I would need to lose at least 50+ to get good results with this surgery. This was never explained to me by Dr. Oshwald, if it had been, I would have never had the surgery. I never even wanted an abdominoplasty to begin with, I went in initially for a consult about abdominal liposuction, and was talked into the abdominoplasty by Dr. Oshwald. I believe that he acted unethically in his practice by doing this surgery when he knew that it would not work as it was supposed to, and that I was taken advantage of. I am very disappointed by the lack of care for his patients that he has shown here in this situation. I will never recommend anyone else to this practice.
