Hi SSB, You certainly can have a reconstructed nipple. There are many techniques described from nipple sharing to local flaps and grafts to even implants and tattooing. It depends on your other nipple and what is suitable for you- discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Often I defer the nipple reconstruction until after I have reconstructed the breast mound so as not to put it in the wrong spot. Best wishes.
Hi catlaw7, It sounds like you are worried that your reduction is inadequate. Certainly seromas and post operative swelling will contribute to your current size. Post operative swelling by its nature will settle down and may take 3-6 months. Depending on the size of the seroma, this may or may not settle with time and may even require interventions ranging from aspirations to open drainage. I too would advocate waiting unless you are getting symptoms from your seroma such as discomfort or infections or if they are a large volume. Hope all goes well.
Hi cat, Hypoechoic shadowing may well represent normal post operative changes seen commonly in breast reductions. MRI should be diagnostic and if there are still any concerns then I would think a biopsy would be appropriate. Good luck
Hi caseycorn, I'm sorry to hear of your unfortunate post operative course. It sounds like you have an established chronic infection and possible an abcess within your breast. Given that the more conservative surgical measures have failed, leaving the wound open to drain is the most reliable way to treat such situations. It is important to treat the infection properly as it can lead to potentially serious sepsis. It may also not be all doom and gloom as often once the infection is properly treated, the breasts settle down or correctional surgery can be entertained as necessary. Good luck.
There are various techniques described for correcting clefts in the nipple. This may be from simple repairs to more complicated reconstructions. Pictures would certainly be helpful but in general I would think there is a good chance that the deformity can be corrected. Try and see a plastic surgeon that subspecialises in breast plastic surgery if you have lost confidence in your surgeon.
