I had been overweight/obese my entire life. In 2007, I had LapBand surgery at 282 pounds. I lost about 110 pounds and was doing well until I got a stomach flu. It’s impossible to vomit “correctly” with the LapBand and the bottom part of my stomach migrated into the top portion. Even with several attempts to correct it, it was never the same. I had major complications and gained all of the weight back plus more. My highest weight was 314 pounds. I opted to have band removal and DS surgery in March 2017. Its a little over 2 yrs later, and I weigh 144 pounds!!! And the Dr estimates I have about 15-20 pounds of extra skin on my body. My bloodwork is perfect. The only not-so-great side effect— horrible smelling gas and stool. But it’s a small price to pay for the amazing success I’ve had! I would do it again in a heartbeat. I saw Dr Dennis Smith in Celebration, Fl (formally Marietta, GA). He is so amazingly smart and has a wonderful bedside manor. He even spent time with my parents after the surgery and explained the procedure and what to expect during my recovery.
