Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

If cost is not an issue and you are otherwise fit for both procedures my treatment of choice would be ICL in this prescription

What is the better option PRK or Lasik if I have astigmatism of sph 5, cyl 0.75, axis 10' and VA 6/9? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

SMILE or Lasik would be better option with this prescription in that order vs PRK. Although you will need further tests to determine your suitability for the procedure.

-3.75 is number for both my eyes corneal thickness is 514 um . Am I suitable for lasik ?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Dear Somya,

One would actually need your tomography or topography report at least to assess your suitability for LASIK. You have only provided your corneal thickness which albeit on thinner side, is as such ok for procedure.

Can I do lasik without any complications in the future?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

If everything else is good you can perhaps opt for PRK (Photo refractive Keratectomy) or SBK (Sub bowman Keratomileusis). The former will be my preferable option.

Am I suitable for LASIK: Sph power -8.5 and -8.75, cyl power - 1.5 and -1.75?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

ICL will be my preferred procedure if you are otherwise fit for it. Leaving power in either eye is generally not my preferred option and we will also need to look at your tomography/ topography reports before making final decisions.

Can LASIK and PRK be done if your reading vision may get worse?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Reading vision (Near Vision) will require glasses usually after the age of 40-45. Before this age the prescription for distance and far is same (as additional power required for near work is seamlessly provided for internal eye muscles by a process called accomodation). Now, if one is over the age of say 45, he or she will require separate prescription for distance and near and generally lasik/ prk will take care only of distance prescription.

My son is 16 and has had the same prescription in both eyes for over 4 years which is +.6.75 and +7.25. Can he have ICL?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Your son will need to undergo detailed and complete ocular examination (especially internal anterior chamber depth) to see if your son is fit for procedure.

Can I undergo PRK surgery if my prescription is -5.5 diopters and -2.75 astigmatism in both eyes?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

PRK surgery can be done even with higher prescriptions but results start going down drastically especially with coexisting astigmatism. I would not like to do PRK in this prescription. ICL is better definitely if you are otherwise fit for procedure.

What are the chances of success to try one eye and see if the vault is sufficient?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi,

Manual WTW (white to white) Measurement is the best (unless one has orbscan). The largest size available with Staar ICL will be used. In India, such lenses are also made by some companies where sizing can be customised to make larger size lenses as well. Nevertheless, even if required removal of ICL is a relatively easy procedure. Please go ahead.
