Hello Kedilee, You raise an excellent question. Urethral strictures are quite uncommon and be troublesome to treat in women. Repeated dilations is one way to deal with this. Another is to learn to self-catheterize and keep it open yourself. This can be done daily or even a few times a week. The tissue around the vagina may not heal well if you have low levels of estrogen (ovaries removed). If this is the case, vaginal laser treatment may improve the quality of the tissue but there is no guarantee. Other symptoms, such as vaginal dryness, pain with intercourse, urinary urgency may improve with vaginal laser treatments, such as Incontilase or Intimalase. All the best, DE
