I have been getting Botox injections for about 2 years now. I only get it in the glabella region---those pesky 11's that always made me look tired and angry...even when I felt great! I don't regret my injections one bit. I go every 3-4 months, like clockwork and my results speak for themselves. I may branch out and get injections in other areas of my face, as time goes on...but, for now, I'm happy with my 20 units in the frown lines. The "Before" picture was taken 4/1/17 and the "After" pic was taken just a few weeks ago (no filter on either pic).
I have had a sweating issue since I was 16 years old. Just like everyone who ends up on this website, nothing I tried worked. Clinical Strength antiperspirant? HA! Doesn't stand a chance against me. I finally ended up with a fleet of Thompson Tees (at $25/undershirt) but had no problem sweating through them either. Decided to make a change last month and had the miradry procedure done. There are a million reviews of the procedure, so I won't go into much detail....the injections didn't hurt at all, and with the exception of one or two "hot spots" during the actual procedure, I found it to be virtually painless, and drove myself home afterwards. I was very strict with icing afterwards, and had 6 water bottles waiting in my freezer. I took two days off of work and did nothing but ice. The swelling was no joke for the first day and a half, but 48 - 60 hours after the procedure, the swelling was down to a very reasonable level. I had a little bit of bruising, this too was gone in a day or two. I had miradry done on a Monday, and that following Fri/Saturday I moved myself into a new house with no problem at all. I think taking the first few days completely off, and icing almost constantly was huge for me. A month later and I still have some numbness and some lumps that are sensitive to the touch, but nothing that stops me from living life, hitting the gym etc. If worrying about the pain/post miradry recovery is holding you back....don't let it, it wasn't a big deal at all. UPDATE A little over a month after the procedure, and I called yesterday to set up the second treatment. My first couple of weeks I was completely sweat free, and the happiest I have been in awhile. I quickly got to the point where I didn't even think about sweating anymore, and had been enjoying wearing gray for the first time in more than a decade. I was shocked and disappointed when I realized the sweat had returned, and I was once again sweating through shirts (both armpits).....not like I used to...but probably 25% improvement....maybe.....it was plain as day that I was a sweaty mess today at work. During the first 3 weeks I had noticed that I still sweat, but it wasn't enough to even show up on my shirt....this has all changed over the last week. Hopefully the second procedure takes care of this problem for good. First procedure $1800 Second $1200 The Doc spent about 30 seconds with me, but the nurses who actually performed the procedure were awesome. There was NO follow up at all on their end...no attempt to set up the second treatment, no checking in.....just put ice under my arms and never heard from them again. Updated on 9 May 2017: I went back in this morning for round two, and had managed to (barely) sweat through my shirt on the 15 minute drive from my house to the doctor's office. The Doc came in took a look for a few minutes and pointed out the area on both armpits where the sweat was still pouring through. He said that the small areas where the iodine quickly bubbled up, would need to be areas of concentration, and that even though the areas were small, they could actually account for an entire cold, wet, sweat ring through my shirt scenario, but that the rest of my underarm area seemed to have taken to the first round of treatment pretty well. Just like the first time, the numbing shots didn't bother me at all. The only real difference this time, was that the actual procedure itself was completely pain free. I felt nothing. I was actually concerned that somehow it wasn't being done correctly, because i couldn't even tell that anything was being done. They hit the sweaty areas of my armpit twice which was great Pain kicked in about 6 hours after i left. I'm fairly bruised, but took the next 2 days off of work so i can try and heal as quickly as possible. Will follow up in a few weeks......fingers crossed that this takes care of my problem once and for all! *Nurses were great again this time Updated on 18 Feb 2018: Been almost a year since my second procedure....and unfortunately I'm now considering a third. My life has improved immensely since the second procedure, but in recent weeks I've found that I am once again sweating through shirts....this is incredibly disheartening for me, as I thought these days were a thing of the past. I loved the feeling of never worrying about it anymore.... The good news is that even when I do get a little sweaty it is a vast improvement on the gigantic sweat rings I used to endure.....but still.... if one more treatment can kill this problem for good....I'm in. Will give it until spring to see how things go, but if current sweat trends continue, then I'll be back in the doctors office seeking round 3. Even with the current sweating issues, I am very pleased with the procedure....I would estimate a roughly 60-75% improvement overall.....maybe this is as good as it gets? I guess I'll find out this spring after seeing the doc again. Will try and do a better job of providing updates, if anyone is finding these useful., Updated on 18 Apr 2025: Never got the 3rd procedure as a little bit of reading led me to believe it would be of limited value. All these years later, and I can’t tell a difference from before I had the Mira dry….certainly wasn’t the long term cure I had hoped it would be. I still sweat through a shirt in just a couple minutes, and got nothing out of the two sessions but a lighter wallet and less underarm hair I’ll start looking to see if there are any new things out there and maybe try something else as temperatures start to rise this summer…..but the last mira cure proved more than just a little disappointing….hope this helps
