In 2017, I went to Dr.Hacker for a rhinoplasty/septoplasty. In the consultation he listened to my concerns and took photos of my nose. He was very realistic about results and I felt that he was genuinely interested in helping. I decided to go forward with the surgery. On the day of the procedure, before the surgery, he explained to me what was going to be done during surgery and he explained the healing process following. I felt that my expectations were managed before going into the surgery and I felt very prepared for it. When I came out of surgery I felt out of it but I wasn't in any pain or discomfort. When I went home to heal, I was able to manage the pain via the prescriptions prescribed, and was able to sufficiently rest for optimal healing. When it came time to take off the nose splint, Dr.Hacker was extremely gentle. I was nervous to see my new nose. It had come out perfect. It looked very natural. I was so happy with my result. It's 2021 now and my nose still looks great. I haven't had any complications or complaints. All in all, Dr. Hacker is a great doctor. He's extremely knowledgeable and he really cares about his patients. I would recommend him 100%.
Hello all ! Looking to all of you to help me start my journey. I have a appointment with Dr. Hacker next week and would love to get some input on any patients past experiences with him. Any photos or reviews are greatly appreciated ! Thanks :)
Just got my cast removed today and couldn't be happier! I was born n raised in Toronto but moved out of province a few years ago. I could've gone to any Doctor in Vancouver, or flew to Vegas but it's the trust and assurance Dr. Hacker gave me that brought me back to him. I've known Dr. Hacker for many years. I broke my nose years ago and I decided to get it straightened by hand back then which left it to grow slanted. I also wanted to remove the dorsal hump (prior to breaking it). All I really wanted was to remove the dorsal hump but he insisted he can actually make it straight and remove the hump and he did a phenomenal job. It came out better than I could have imagined and I can finally breathe out of both nostrils. I cannot stop staring at myself in the mirror. Couldn't be happier! Since I came out of town and we already had my file from before my appointment was a day before surgery. On the day of surgery Dr. Hacker still joked around with me and looked at my file then at me asking 'you wanted three nostrils right?' (sarcasm) and I was put to sleep! Woke up with minimal bruising, however, the day after yes my face puffed up, eyes barely opened, and did change the guazed only once since I did not bleed that much. For the week I ate a lot of broccoli, pineapple and drank a lot of water to bring down the swelling since these foods tend to reduce inflammation. I do have some swelling left on my cheeks and nose but should be good in a few weeks to a month. Is the pain and suffering that bad that I wouldn't do it again? Nope. It's actually killing time in the week that I had issues with. The actual procedure and experience are not bad at all for something that'll help you in your life. He is straightforward, no BS guy and if you look closely at the negative reviews on this page they are A. Being unrealistic B. Picturing a nose that isn't suited for their face. It would be impossible to have a George Clooney nose on Dave Chapelle. C. They don't understand his sarcasm. I remember reading a review from before of someone saying 'he acted like he didn't remember on the day of' - Really? He acted like I asked for three nostrils before mine so you laugh and aren't so stressed out. I highly recommend Dr. Hacker to almost anyone!
Thank you too the moon and back.....I love my nose. First off Dr. Hacker was very professional and realistic...at first it took me a second to understand what he meant when he said " I can't just give you any nose that you show me in a picture". I understand what he meant after the cast came off.....he has to work with what he has otherwise your going to look like Michael Jackson (R.i.p). You can have unrealistic expectations coming in there if you have a potato nose to begin with(no offense) , he has to work with your cartilage, bone and skin thickness . I like that he didn't sugar coat anything for me and was straight, it's too easy when you coming in with a concern for someone to finesse the impossible and you to believe it . He made my nose look the best for my face and it looks so natural no one can ever believe I had a nose job, my bridge is straight and i don't have a nose too small for my face ....IT'S Perfect :)
Went to see Dr. Hacker twice... he said to me, " you could spend $10 000 and I promise you wouldn’t be happy with the results." This is a Dr. that isnt there for the money. Great guy. He took his time and explained to me that he could do the surgery but no one could be able to get the results that I was looking for. I admired his honestly and integrity.
Dr Hacker is a very skilled surgeon with great bedside manner, and a natural way about him that puts one at ease. He explains everything and sets expectations accordingly. I had a septorhinoplasty about a year ago and he's been perfect the whole way through. Always very responsive via email(which is very convenient), and patient with any questions or concerns. I have thick ethnic nasal skin and had a steroid / kenalog injection today - and he as always was great and very conscientious about minimizing discomfort. Which is key when choosing a surgeon for a surgery such as this - that you have a rapport and are comfortable, to add to their competency. Competency in general should be expected from any surgeon, and a given afterall. Its all the other traits and intangibles that when combined truly differentiate. And to top it all off the reasonable cost didn't hurt either!
I was not anticipating that I would write a review of my experience, however I am so happy with the result that I feel I need to pay credit where it is due. I had a dorsal hump removal and tip refinement with Dr. Hacker and he did a beautiful job. I have just recently got the cast off, so there is still quite a bit of swelling, but it already looks great. My nose is very well suited to my face and features. Dr. Hacker was pleasant, professional, and always available to answer my questions. His office staff is definitely a bit disorganized, and it is much easier to email Dr. Hacker directly than to contact the office. The staff at EGH where he operates are also wonderful. I have no regrets at all, other than wishing I had done this 5 years ago!
after searching through a lot of doctors i chose to see hacker, after the initial constualtation i knew he was the perfect person to fix my nose. He listened and was very honest and he was extremely patient. He made me feel comfortable and had a lot of usefull suggestions. I feel like he geniunly cared and to think he does so with every patient made me more comfortable. Its almost one year post op and I am in love and amazed by my results he had gone above and beyond my expectations and I did not think my nose was possible to change this much for the better. His price is extremely reasonable compared to many doctor's in toronto who are way over priced. The best thing about him is he made my nose look so natural, everyone I meet now cannot tell unless I tell them I've had a nose job.
If you're reading this, you're probably thinking that you want to get rhinoplasty performed because you've hated your nose for a long time. I was no different, and I'll spare the details. Despite wanting to have this surgery since I was a child, I made a fairly quick decision, and an even quicker surgeon decision. I had an upper limit of $7000, and didn't really want to spend more than that. I'm from London, but no one specialized in cosmetic rhinoplasty (other than perhaps Dr. Corey Moore, but they refuse to even give you a base quote without paying for a consultation), so I started looking to a bit bigger cities. I found Dr. Nicholas Hynes in Hamilton, and had a consultation with him, even though he did not specialize in rhinoplasty (I really only looked at the price - a mistake). As far as I can remember, it was around $6800 for a rhinoplasty with Dr. Hynes. I was a bit worried about him not being a specialist, so I e-mailed his receptionist and she told me he only did around 5-7 rhinoplasties a year!! I don't know what I expected, but I expected more than that. I decided to keep looking and somehow stumbled upon someone's review of Dr. David Hacker in Toronto/Etobicoke. Dr. Hacker specializes in rhinoplasty and septoplasty, and is an ENT - something definitely reassuring. I looked on his site and was really fond of the "no-frills" approach to the surgery - I hate how a lot of plastic surgeons are business people first and surgeons second. He also advertised his price on his website, showing they had nothing to hide, and his price was less than $5000CAD before tax!! I was astounded. I read a lot of reviews, which were mixed, but all the reviews on his nose surgeries were very good. I decided to take a gamble and e-mail him, and he responded to me personally, almost right away. I was blown away that a busy Toronto surgeon could take the time out of his day to answer seemingly stupid questions for a prospective patient. Anyways, after a few e-mails back and forth, I decided I wanted to book a consultation with Dr. Hacker. His consultations are a bit pricy (around $150 inc. tax if I remember correctly) but he spent over an hour with me and really convinced me that he was the one I would trust to do the surgery. I booked my surgery right after the consultation, and had to wait roughly 1.5 months. We agreed that I needed a substantial dorsal hump reduction and had a slight septum deviation that needed to be corrected. I did not get any tip work done as we agreed that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." The lead-up to the surgery was a bit concerning because of his staff, the follow-up conversations seemed to be a bit rushed and they didn't always get my information right (IE, they gave the wrong birthday to the hospital - but this was fixed after the hospital called me). All in all, his staff are nice - just a bit organized I'm guessing. It can be VERY hard to get a hold of his office at certain times...I would recommend directly e-mailing Dr. Hacker. I did this a number of times and he had his staff call me as soon as they were available. As for the actual surgery - I showed up to Etobicoke General (stayed the night in a hotel nearby) and the nurses were very nice! I told them I was a huge baby about needles and everything and they comforted me the whole way. Before I knew it, I was saying bye to my boyfriend and I was being walked to the operating room! I'll admit that the operating room was a tad odd looking (although I don't have much to compare it to) but everyone, including Dr. Hacker, comforted me until I lulled off to sleep. I woke up in the recovery room and was in a lot of pain naturally, but they pump you full of morphine and you're on your way. I was already visibly bruised under one of my eyes, but nothing too bad. I was given a RX for percocets, which I did NOT want to fill, so I didn't. I had T3s at home and was determined to get by on them and ibuprofen alone - which I did. The first day - very easy compared to the rest of the week. You're still hopped up on the morphine etc. that your body hasn't had a chance to catch up yet. Second day - Sleeping is the absolute worst. You can't sleep. You have to have your head propped up by 2-3 pillows at least, and you cannot breathe. I did not even have packing, I just had the cast and stints! Third day - The WORST by far. The pain and discomfort was at its peak, but again, wasn't THAT bad because I got by with T3s and tylonel/ibuprofen. Dr. Hacker doesn't believe in all the arnica and pineapple juice junk, so I didn't bother, and I was fine. I stuck to a soft food diet obviously, and ate as healthy as possible. I was exhausted already by this day as I couldn't sleep all night, and had a bit of a breakdown!! I advise you to NOT cry after a rhinoplasty, you will swell and it will really suck! Fourth day - Started to get a bit better, still couldn't breathe through nose obviously so talking was interesting and so was trying to eat harder things. Fifth and Sixth days - Much better. Went to Walmart, a friends, etc. even with my cast on - I just had to get outside! Seventh day - Cast removal day!! I had read that this was painful and I tried to mentally prepare myself for it...but it didn't work. Cutting the stitches from inside my nostrils was disgusting, and pulling out the stints was even worse. He did it very quickly and I didn't have time to really process what was going on until after. The cast removal was also quite quick, and yes, it does hurt a lot. But then its over. However, in my case, I started to feel very ill and of course passed out. So I was stuck in his office lying on the floor with a pillow under my head for a few minutes, until I gathered the strength to go sit outside until I felt better. All in all, not a great day...BUT, I loved my new nose! Dr. Hacker said it looked amazing and I healed really well so that was nice to hear. He recommended that I taped my nose for 1 month and massaged it, which I did. The swelling is still quite bad at this point (I still couldn't move my upper lip) and remained so til the 10-14 day mark for me. The breathing also took a while, almost 3 weeks, to improve. Now I am almost 3 months post and I cannot say enough good things about it. I am obsessed! Its a truly indescribable feeling to look at yourself and no longer be ashamed of how you look, to finally feel confident and happy in your appearance. It was a long, long process for me and it was really hard at times (most times actually!!) but I wouldn't change anything at all. This was the best decision I EVER made, and would recommend Dr. Hacker in a heart beat. Even after my surgery, I still e-mail him with silly questions and he responds very quickly and is always helpful. I'm so glad I finally got this done, and that I chose Dr. Hacker. 3 months post and loving it more and more each day!
SO... when I was younger, I never noticed anything was "wrong" with my nose until I started to grow up and people started asking questions like "Have you broken your nose?" and the occasional bullying and ignorant name calling whenever I wore my hair curly. I've always looked very "Eastern European". Now that I'm out of university and starting a new life in another city, I decided to make a change and not wait around, always feeling like I have no confidence for such a silly reason. I arranged an appointment with Doctor Hacker and he was very down to earth. He is a no BS type of guy who will tell you what to expect and I respect him for that. He doesn't mess around with morphing software and doesn't set unreasonable expectations. More importantly, he considers the functional/practical side of surgery as well as the aesthetic. This was perfect for me as I found out I had a badly deviated septum in addition to the masculine "bump" and bulbous tip - and yet he charges a standard price for everyone, which is also the most affordable you'll probably find. Anyway, I won't lie, the recovery sucked. You have to prepare yourself for that after undergoing a major surgery on your face - especially if it includes septoplasty! But a week after the operation, I was in tears at the St. Clair office when Doctor Hacker took off the cast and took out the stents because it looked PHENOMENAL (even with the swelling). I am so pleased with the way my nose now complements the rest of my face instead of being a focal point. It's been about 3 weeks post-op for me and I can honestly tell you that Doctor Hacker is an artist. This is what he does and he does it very well.
