My mother had excellent results on an upper/lower blepharoplasty with Dr. Palaia early in his career, about 20 years ago. I always expected I would need it, too, but wasn't sure at what age. At 44 I started thinking about it and landed on age 46. I asked around quite a bit among people I know (including physicians) and Dr. Palaia was consistently recommended as doing excellent work -- namely, subtle and natural looking. My goal was to look like me, just refreshed, and 10 years younger. I was tired of looking tired and that it didn't reflect how I feel on the inside.
I found Dr. Palaia and his office colleagues to be extremely professional throughout the process. They give thorough instructions on what to prepare for to ensure proper prep and post-op healing, including a regimen of vitamins. On the day of surgery, admission to Northern Westchester Hospital was quick and very professional. He came in and confirmed the procedure, and the anesthesiologist and OR nurse did the same. All very professional. When I came to post surgery, everything was as had been described.
Week 1 is with sutures in, and some discomfort, but not terrible. Despite swelling, I could see where it was headed and pleased (although the swelling is annoying). Removing the sutures on Day 5 was a big shift and I could start being more mobile (and on Day 7 I wore makeup to Easter Services -- if swollen). Week 2 I worked from home and avoided makeup. Week 3 largely back in action, though not at top pace. Week 4 people were saying I looked energized, but couldn't put their finger on it.
The malar fat graft which was confurrent did cause more swelling than I anticipated and more soreness in abdomen than I expected. At Week 2 I was not pleased I did it but be Week 4 with the swelling mostly down, I really am pleased with the outcome. I am eager to see what it looks like at Month 3, when it is fully settled.
Net net -- at Week 4 I am 100% pleased, even if not yet fully healed. Not one regret -- in fact, wish I did it earlier. And I would recommend Dr. Palaia without hesitation and would return to him for other procedures.
