MOHS Surgery Upper Lip

I had MOHS surgery done with Dr. Wong to remove a spot of Basal Cell Carcinoma located in the middle of my upper lip. It started out as what I believed to have been an ingrown hair, of course I picked at it and it turned into a little wound that just would not heal. After about a year of trying antibiotics and ointments I saw a dermatologist who immediately took a biopsy and told me it was skin cancer 100% without waiting for the results he just knew what it was. Unfortunately, he was correct and my journey begun. Dr. Wong is great, he is extremely knowledgeable and walked me through what the procedure would look like and how the reconstructive surgery would go after. He coordinated with my plastic surgeon to facilitate the scheduling of my facial reconstruction surgery the following days after he completed the MOHS surgery. As much as I was prepared mentally and emotionally for the procedure I really don’t think anyone can prepare you for what you’re about to have done. Dr. Wong made two passes before declaring I was cancer free and it was hard to process the full extent of the damage.
