And my tip is definetly still swollen, which takes about 6 m to a year.. as we all know :) I seem to be fine, i am back in my gym routine.. although still not running fast .. etc or anything like that. . . but doesnt hurt at all.. some pressure with random things.. or movement (sleeping etc.. ) thats it ! posted some pics.. man i wish i did this years ago.. lol!
honestly, I'm the happiest i've ever been just knowing that in a month I will be able to do it. I've considered this for years, I'm 18 now but I can recall in 6th grade looking around and seeing if other kids had as large of noses as me. I've done a ton of research and I am more excited than nervous. CAN NOT WAIT!!Updated on 26 Feb 2013:Met Dr. Kane yesterday, who seems absoltuely fantastic. He's extremely nice and made me feel comfortable about the surgery, which is booked for next tuesday. Now, the only problem is that my health insurance sucks and wants to charge an extra $10,000 on top of the cost of the rhinoplasty. If I have to go through the insurance I'm going to have to find another Doctor :( which sucks because Dr. Kane knew exactly what I needed! I'll update once I know more.Updated on 27 Feb 2013:SURGERY IS BACK ON!!! Blood work will be done sunday and surgery tuesday!!!! ill upload some before pictures now!!Updated on 27 Feb 2013:Blood work done Friday*Updated on 1 Mar 2013:just finished blood work and signing all the consent. I was freaking out and on the verge of a panic attack bc I hate needles but I didn't feel it at all!! It was great!! Surgery Tuesday!!Updated on 4 Mar 2013:I'm starting to get super nervous. Idk how to calm my nerves. I couldn't sleep last night and I highly doubt I'll be able to tonightUpdated on 5 Mar 2013:On my way to the hospital now!! AHHHHH lol Surprisingly I slept extremely well last night. Now I'm ready to be done with the surgery! I'll be posting pics in a couple hours when I get home!Updated on 5 Mar 2013:OUT OF SURGERY!!! Feeling really weak and stuffy and my eyes are super swollen but besides that the pain is definitely bearable. I don't remember anything after they gave me the medication to calm me down besides waking up and having a weird dream. After I woke up I was really nauseous so they gave mess for that and some pain killers. My blood pressure dropped a lot once I tried to get up so it took a while to actually leave. Now I'm in bed and feeling alright!Updated on 5 Mar 2013:laying in bed, relaxed. I'm lucky because my doctor didn't put any packing so I just have a lot of pressure. No swelling or bruising yet and it's been about 7 hours. Still a bit nauseous and having difficulty using the rest room but I'm honestly feeling pretty well!Updated on 6 Mar 2013:Surgery was yesterday. Stilla absolutely no bruising. I took a pain killer at 8 and then another at 12 and I was able to sleep until now. Most of the pain that I felt after all the anesthesia wore off is gone, which might be because of the pain killer still. Recovery is going a lot smoother than I thought it would be.Updated on 6 Mar 2013:Not doing too well today. I don't have any pain and extremely minor brusing but I'm super congested and can't breath at all which is causing my throat to hurt. I know my surgery was only yesterday but the internet is freaking me out and making me feel like I'm gonna be like this for months. starting to break down.Updated on 7 Mar 2013:Day 2 post op. I'm feeling SOOOO much better. I slept for 12 hours last night and now I feel like I just have a severe cold and that's why I can't breath right. I hope I keep feeling better! No bruising yet!!Updated on 8 Mar 2013:Day 3 Post op. LITERALLY NO BRUISING!!! I'm so happy. Most the facial swelling has gone down and I can kind of breath and smell out of my left nostril!! Only complaint is that I still havent been able to use to the bathroom so my stomach is extremely bloated and it hurts but I'm gonna call my surgeon today and ask him if its okay to take some medicine for that. I have no idae how I managed no brusing... I have been taking 2000 mg of Vitamin C everyday for the past 2 months and also put arnica cream on my eyes the day of the surgery right before I went to sleep that night, or maybe its just because im lucky. I've been looking at my nose at the angle that I used to hate the most on this three way mirror and the bump is completely gone!!! I'm so happy!! and such an easy recovery period now!! I'm gonna try to leave my house today and go outside for a walk or something. Getting my cast off Monday!!Updated on 9 Mar 2013:Day four post op feeling amazing. I can breath out of my left nostril, no facial bruising what so ever. Now I just have to get my right side of my nose to work! I can also blow my nose as hard as I want and touch it and and feel no pan! The swelling is also still reducing.Updated on 26 Apr 2013:Two months post op feeling amazing and loving my nose :)
Diana, thank you for your question. The results from a facelift should appear almost immediately. While a small amt of swelling may be present after surgery, most should be gone in 2-3 weeks. The same for bruising. The skin of the cheeks my feel numb for about 6 mosths. The sensation slowly returns to normal over that time. As a rule I tell my patients to plan their surgery no sooner than 6-10 weeks prior to a major social event.
Most surgeons specializing in Cosmetic Surgery offer free consultations for their aesthetic patients. If you feel rushed and not treated as a valued patient, I would certainly seek out another surgeon. The relationship between Dr. and Patient should be based on an ability to easily communicate with your surgeon. If you have difficulty communicating with a surgeon on the first visit you will probobly have more difficulty after surgery. There should be a positive chemistry between Dr. and Patient.
It certainly is possible to open the old incision, raise the abdominal flap and do the muscle repair without removing more skin. This would leave you with a new low transverse scar as the old one would be removed.
From your photographs I see no reason to suggest an inverted "T" type tummy tuck. You ahve a very lax abdominal wall that will require tightening and it also appears that you have an umbilical hernia. This could be fixed at the time of the tummy tuck. I would suggest that you seek another opinion regarding your abdominal issues.
In my geographical area I see numerous patients who have had surgery overseas and need assistance with complications after returning home. I am sure that there are many patients who have successfully undergone their surgery and don't require professional followup. While it may be much less expensive to have surgery overseas, the cost of treating and correcting complications could prove to be expensive for some patients. Remember that rules and regulations regarding patient safety are different in every country with the USA having the highest standards.
